Small business, big lessons📚💡

Remember the window decal I did for a business in Lex? I knew there was a good chance the tiny letters wouldn't stick but took the risk. A couple weeks later, sure enough they didn't hold and I was honestly disappointed. I never want anything less than my best for a customer, especially a fellow small business owner.

We delt with so much illness in our house the last few months it took much longer than "good business" rules allow to get the window done. I would been heartbroken but understood if she expressed frustration or even took her business elsewhere. But she didn't 🥹

We've met in person one time, have no connection aside from these windows: she's in a brick-and-mortar and I'm in my basement. She doesn't know a single thing about "me," or that I'm more than "the woman who crafts from her basement and takes her kids to jobs with her". Yet she was so kind she was kind in every. single. message. She never lost faith in me and I can't tell you what that meant to me. She approved a refreshed design without hesitation and never pressured me though she had every right.

After too long, I removed the old vinyl, installed the updated version, and I’ll be checking back in a few weeks to make sure everything is holding strong. I'll also be dosing everyone in the house with whatever essential oil/tallow/orange peel/vitamin I can find 😷

Grateful doesn’t even begin to cover it. Staying connected, communicating openly, and supporting one another is what helps small businesses grow—and I’m thankful for every customer who trusts me through the process.

Two Southern staples. One bold shirt. All heart.

These cozy tees were dreamed up by a pair of young girls who don’t just love sandwich spreads—they MAKE AND SELL THEIR OWN at local markets!

Most of us are familiar with the smokey goodness of Pimento Cheese, but what’s Benedictine, anyway?...

Benedictine is UNIQUE and ORIGINAL to Kentucky!! It was invented in Louisville, Kentucky around the turn of the 20th century by Jennie Carter Benedict. The recipe creates a cool, creamy spread made from cucumber and cream cheese. As a a trailblazing caterer and cookbook author, Jennie wasn’t just a culinary innovator—she ran a tearoom, trained at the Boston Cooking School, and even launched Louisville’s first school lunch program. A woman ahead of her time, feeding minds and bellies alike!

So, when these young creators chose “Benedictine. Pimento Cheese.” for their shirt design, they weren’t just making a snack statement—they were nodding to a legacy of Southern women who build, brand, and boldly go where flavor leads!
