Seve Ballesteros and Bernhard Langer shared the title at the 1986 Lancome Trophy championship in France when darkness forced play to be abandoned after the fourth hole of a playoff. Ballesteros' share of the title was his sixth European Tour victory of the year, which earned him the Order of Merit. Each player received a prize of $39,400.

2009 - Martin Laird of Scotland won the Justin Timberlake Shriners Hospitals for Children Open in a playoff against George McNeill and Chad Campbell. This is Laird's first PGA Tour title, and the fifth consecutive year that the event has been won by a first-time PGA Tour winner. When asked how he plans to celebrate, Laird says, "It's going to be big. I can't tell you what it's going to be, but I will have a headache for a few days."

Ryder Cup 1983: US Edges Europe in Spectacular Finish

On October 16, 1983, the 25th Ryder Cup ended in dramatic fashion with the United States defeating Europe by a narrow margin of 14½-13½ at PGA National in Florida.

Seve Ballesteros and Lanny Wadkins both hit spectacular shots on the 18th hole in their respective matches to earn half points for their teams. Ballesteros holed out from a fairway bunker to square his match against Fuzzy Zoeller, while Wadkins hit a wedge approach to within inches of the hole to halve his match against José María Canizares.

However, it was Bernard Gallacher's missed putt on the 17th hole that proved to be the deciding factor in the match. Gallacher, who was playing against Tom Watson, had a chance to level the match but missed a short putt, giving Watson a 2&1 victory and ensuring the Ryder Cup for the United States.

The 1983 Ryder Cup was a memorable one for both teams, and it was a sign of things to come, as Europe would go on to win the next three Ryder Cups and establish itself as a major force in the competition.

2014: Stanford golfer Viraat Badhwar shoots a 59 at the Stanford Golf Course, one day after meeting his idol, Tiger Woods.

"My first 59, it was a pretty cool experience," Badhwar told Golfweek. "I just kind of got on a roll. It was fun."

Badhwar, who was in town to induct former Stanford teammate Notah Begay into the school's athletic Hall of Fame, also spoke about meeting Woods for the first time:

"It was my first time meeting him. It was a dream come true really because I've been looking up to him since I was seven years old."

1993: Jeff Maggert wins his first PGA Tour title under floodlights at the Walt Disney World Oldsmobile Classic in Orlando. Darkness descended during the final round, forcing tournament officials to rent floodlights from the driving range and set them up on the 18th hole. Maggert finished the tournament with a three-shot victory over Greg Kraft, draining his final putt at 7:29 PM, 28 minutes after the sun had set.

Great Britain Defeats the U.S. in the 1957 Ryder Cup

On October 5, 1957, Great Britain defeated the United States in the 12th Ryder Cup at Lindrick Golf Club in Yorkshire, England. The final score was 7½-4½.

The U.S. team led 3-1 after the first day of competition, but Great Britain came back to win the singles matches on the second day by a score of 6½-1½. This was the first time that Great Britain had won the Ryder Cup since 1933.

Dai Rees captained the winning Great Britain team. Jack Burke Jr. was the captain of the U.S. team.
