The 1974 XX-10 is the final design from Weltron before they exited consumer electronics! It is rare with sophisticated electronics and has become a sought after unit design. It was launched with a styrene dome that snapped into the face with two tabs. The restoration of the XX-10 was the inspiration for the Chromium Dome that fits all of the Weltron spaceballs. We actually glue on the tabs to fit the dome to the xx-10!

Christmas is a magical time at Chromium and we try to do something special every year! This year we are creating bespoke ornaments for our tinsel tree! Deck the halls with Weltron Spaceballs! They will feature the classic 2001, 2004 and 2010 in yellow, white and orange, and the 2010 in white! Let’s see if we can make a Chromium Dome?

VIctor Vasarely is the godfather of op art. There is an exhibition in of his 120 year retrospective in his home city of Budapest, Hungary. This absolutely fascinating exhibition follows his personal development from figurative art to abstraction to op art and kinectic and sculpture. The evolution is fascinating and makes one appreciate his later works even more! He passed in 1997, and his final vision was for a democratic art and architecture accessible and understood by all! With all of the selfishness of oligarchs and pursuit of money above morals, this retrospective made me respect Vasarely and his ideals (as translated by his art) even more! Ironically the gallery is situated in Budapest on Heroes Square; and David Bowie chose one of Vasarely’s works for his early original Space Oddity albums….what if we could all be heroes, even just for one day? Would the world not be a better place?
