This week I sat down with a new client who was more than a little nervous about what to expect. I explained in the simplest terms that what we do through House of J is support people through TRANSITIONS, focusing on the physical possessions in their homes.

I also love to help people reframe their thinking. So let’s try this, instead of telling you what we are here for, why don’t you read a little bit about what we’re NOT here for. šŸ‘‡

We are not here to force you to be a minimalist. We are not here to just move stuff around and call it organizing. We are not here to force you to get rid of anything just for the sake of calling it progress. We are not here to rush out of your house as quickly as possible when packing, by hurriedly throwing things into boxes. (you could do that yourself) We are not here to throw away anything that could still be used. We are not here to make your house look like ours.

We are not the authority on your home. YOU ARE. We are here to remind you of that. YOU get to decide what each day looks like and how you want to feel at home. If you want to change or simply not do everything on your own, great we’re here for that! 😊

It never too early to start planning. Whether it’s packing or organzing we’d love to hear from you as soon as you know you may need a hand.. giving yourself 4-6 weeks for a new project or full home move management can help calm your nerves and give our team enough time to plan and prepare effectively and shop for the best products without rushing or compromising your options.

When I heard that Angels Community Outreach was running low on essential items for local families, I knew I wanted to help.

This week, we donated a large collection of brand-new toiletries and personal care products that had been set aside from our clients’ organizing projects. We also picked up additional supplies to help restock their shelves.

Over the past few years, I’ve made it a habit to bring children’s books, clothing, shoes, and household items to their donation bins, but I had never had the opportunity to visit while the volunteers were there. I’m so grateful that today was the day.

I was able to tour their beautifully organized free community closet, meet some of the incredible volunteers, and see firsthand the impact they’re making. Every week, they help hundreds of local families with clothing, toiletries, and access to the food pantry next door.

They’re always accepting donations and can also use more volunteers. Donation drop-offs are accepted on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.

If you know someone who could use a little extra support, encourage them to submit a request through Angel’s Community Outreach’s website. Their volunteers thoughtfully gather the items each family needs, prepare them for pickup, and schedule a time for them to shop the free community closet.

When we say that House of J focuses on sustainable cleanouts, this is exactly what we mean. Organizing isn’t just about clearing clutter—it’s about making sure the things our clients no longer need find their way to someone who truly does.

Angel’s Community Outreach is doing incredible work for our community, and I’m excited to continue supporting their mission through donations, partnerships, and future community events. šŸ’œšŸ’œšŸ’œ
