Wet Bear Tracks = likely Food & Beverage that when it dries… smells.
When a bear breaks into a home and removes food and beverages from the kitchen, its furry paws are usually SOAKED with whichever food / beverage was in the refrigerator/freezer. Let’s pretend it got into pickle juice, ice cream, milk, egg, bacon, and cheese. It’s done dining at the house of entry and decides to go to the next house tracking all of the food scent over there. Bears are driven by scent. You may have no idea, without cameras, that the bear has showed up on your deck and left behind significant food scent. If your house WAS ENTERED by a bear, you can about guarantee that the bear(s) did this to your deck and wherever else the Bear traveled as it left your property. THIS IS one reason WHY you take a bucket 🪣, put it in a bathtub to fill it with HOT WATER, take it outside, then add bleach and scrub the decking, railings, gates, window/slider/door - whatever the bear(s) touched.
ONCE IT DRIES, YOU MAY NOT BE ABLE to SMELL IT, but the BEAR CAN! Heat makes any deck smell even more!
Other reasons to scrub…
🐻 Bears also leave behind Bear scent.
🐻 Has any trash bag ever dripped on your decking, patios, concrete, etc?
🐻 Oily PET food from feeding a Bear outside on a deck - leaves behind oil & scent.
🐻 Has a child or adult spilled juice, bbq sauce, soda, food or drink of any kind?
🐻 Thrown peanuts, fed birds on your decking, fed wild birds by hand on your deck - chances are peanut oil or black Sunflower seed oil has been absorbed into your deck… snow and rain don’t clean the scent off.
🐻 Food packages from delivery companies opened by a bear(s) - tea, protein powder, pet foods, food, etc. on your decking…
🐻 Everything tracked, spilled, & absorbed can dry and scent your decking.
NEW TO YOUR HOUSE? Who knows what anybody or any bear(s) did the last five years on your deck!?! Clean it!
