I just watched a doom and gloom video about how you can’t find anything at a thrift store and they’re using AI to take all of our inventory away blah blah. Found this guy for a steal last week and sold him today.

Listing books on Ebay is kind of no fair -- you have to list against people who don't know what they're doing and list their books as First Editions. I've been the only person on a listing before who didn't have a "first edition" when really most of the other ones weren't either. You've got to compete with people who are either ignorant or intentional cheats. I choose to think they honestly don't know. But if this guy gets a sale as a first edition and the buyer doesn't ever figure it out, how does karma make this right? I won't list mine as first edition if it's not. What would you do?

Mercari gave me a policy warning for listing a chef’s knife… in their own Chef Knives category.

Their explanation was that it’s a knife “that can be used as a weapon.”

It’s literally a kitchen knife. Sold new on Amazon, Walmart, and basically every cookware store on earth. At this point I honestly don’t know what these marketplaces even want people to sell anymore.

Challenge yourself to List Outside the Box! Sometimes stuff just needs to go right into the trash because it takes up more space than it's worth, but consider what parts you can take off of it and sell first! Grubby's battery door cover is worth more than he is if he's broken. What other items is this true for? Buttons, drawers, trays, etc.

Are resellers, how can you tell when a brand is in decline? Sometimes the signs are subtle. But not always.
