Some bummer news, I am going to be shutting down my studio. This space has been amazing, but as life would have it things change. I planned to spend countless hours here working on jewelry, listening to music, hosting friends and planning my retail spaces. But the reality became that I could hardly ever make it here. I missed nights out with friends and time my family and it started to stress me out to make time for it rather than it be a place of creative refuge.

I think it’s OK sometimes to admit you can’t do it all. Having three kids, a full-time job, a father nearing the end of his life, while also prepping my first born to go off to college was mission overload for me. For the first time in a long while I felt anxiety creeping in and rather than try to power through like I always do, I peeled the layers back and realized the burden of a studio, the cost, the guilt, the lack of time was something I could change. So back to my basement studio it is for now.

I am so grateful for this space, my Landlord, Steven Tartar and the last 9 months that I got to be a part of the community at Studio Of. Maybe one day when life isn’t so hard, I’ll find another light filled space that I can actually enjoy.

This installment of
is a bit of a hodgepodge.

Which feels right—
because so is my life right now.

As a mom, I’m helping my kid make one of the biggest decisions of his life.
As a daughter, I’m learning what it means to watch the person who gave you life near the end of theirs.
As a professional, I’m juggling a small business and a full-time job—something always slipping off the deck.

And the world itself?
A little chaotic.
Like we’re all unmoored, floating somewhere between where we’ve been and where we’re headed.

The journey isn’t always rosy.
You just have to be still and trust the sails. If not, you’re swimming with the dolphins.

A little bit of everything—
this hodgepodge and more—
arriving soon at the OtherOre showroom URBANITE PDX

I recently took a trip to NOLA with my first born.

We ate our way through the Magazine Street. Listenend to Jazz on Frenchman, explored the French Quarter both day and night, got a sugar high from too many beignets, drifted through the Garden District, road the streetcar across town, tipped street buskers, spent a day at Tulane and strolled the Audubon.

We even hit up an estate sale amongst the lazy lousiana mansions. We took this little crawfish 🦞 home with us. Just looking at it has me craving some Étouffée!

Alas we find ourselves back in dreary Portland missing the sunshine, magnolia blooms & Spanish moss☀️

Not to be koi… but I’ve been very busy.

Studio buildout. Parenting. Full-time work.
Life has been chaos, but the little things still matter.

This brass koi? It’s my favorite of this bunch.
A tiny symbol of constant movement under the surface, resilience, and forward momentum.

These tiny objects and more will be swimming into the showroom soon. 🐟✨

Well, there is a lot of horrible things going on in the world right now, but there is one thing that remains true and gives me hope…

Community is what builds beautiful things. It’s what has allowed small businesses like to thrive and it what is going to get us out of this mess somehow, someway. I’m so grateful that you all are part of my community near and far. My heart is with the brave people of Minnesota. I grew up in the Midwest and my current city, Portland, has faced the same challenges they are facing now at a much greater scale. I stand with the people of Minnesota, our immigrant communities and against the aggressive overreach of ICE.

Community is our greatest strength. So protect it. Be kind to one another. See humans not memes. Lead with love not rage. Speak out against injustice and preserve human rights. Always.

In this installment of I reflect on the art of small giving.

Gift giving season always arrives loudly with lists, boxes, and the pressure to make love look impressive and expensive.
But the gifts that stayed were usually smaller.

A quiet note tucked beneath a keyboard.
A favorite bar of chocolate.
A movie marathon night.
Music scoured and thrifted from the depths of the 90s.
An invite to a comedy show
A fish and chips date.
An anticipated application accepted.
An unsolicited hug from your teenager.

Those gifts didn’t perform. They didn’t ask for anything back.
They brought a quieter kind of peace.
In a season obsessed with more, small gifts carried the most grace.

Thank you to all of you who visited the showrooms and bought and gave another a small thing. I hope it had a big impact.

It is time for another ✨
This week’s favorite? The little brass piggy bank.
Because honestly… wealth and prosperity usually start with pocket change. A few coins here, a few small wins there, snowball it long enough and suddenly the gains aren’t so small anymore. 🐷💛
A reminder that tiny beginnings can lead to big futures.

Which is your favorite?
