Happy FriYAY! What’s your favorite and least favorite part of reselling online?

For me, there are too many favorites to count but this community would have to be on the top of the list along with spending sooo much time with my daughter Eena and my least favorite is passing up large and heavy items, especially large wall art - I would have bought so many of the gems behind my cart.

How about you?

Behind the package pt2. ⁣

My success didn’t happen over night. As I mentioned in Pt. 1 (previous post) I put in a lot of work and had to be patient to see the results. ⁣

These Memorial weekend sales are amazing, I am so incredibly grateful, and I am not taking them for granted. ⁣

These sales not only taught me about patience and letting go of what I can’t control but they also reminded me that sales come in waves. ⁣

I’ve decided to move with the waves. To work a little extra and save even more on high sales months (Im coming for you student loans!!!) and be more gentle with myself on slower months. ⁣

How are sales going for you? How do you deal with slow sales?⁣

Behind the package pt1.

Memorial weekend sales have treated me right but just between us squirrel friends sales have actually been slow.

Mid January I switched from part time (20 hours) to full time (40 hours +). Carving out the time to increase my work while being my toddlers full time care giver was a challenge to say the least.

Imagine my disappointment when I realized that my sales were actually going down or at best staying the same even when I was putting in at least twice the amount of work.

WHAT WAS GOING ON?!?!

I had a momentary freak out.

Then I remembered that sales were out of my control. Sure there are things that I can do to increase sales but I can’t force anyone to buy from me - none of us can.

So I changed my chip and powered on with my new work schedule. Slowly but surely I started to see a change. I focused my attention on what I could control about my business - my listings, sharing frequency, sales, OTL, creating other opportunities for income.

I started to see a change - (continued in next post)

Do you think about branding? ⁣

Branding was on my mind a lot in the beginning of Color Resale - choosing the right name, core values & packaging, mattered so much to me. ⁣

After the first month everything fell into place and I haven’t really changed anything since. ⁣

I’m excited to be working on a new sticker design in celebration of turning one next month. ⁣

I would love to hear about your branding and the thoughts behind it. ⁣

Why I became a reseller (story time, woohooo💃🏽)

I just realized that I’ve never made a post about the origin story, how could that be??!? It’s about time I rectify that. ⁣

Last February my hubby and I took our daughter Eena back to Hawaii to meet my side of the family. Right before we left I set the intention to return to work but I had no idea what that dream stay at home job would be. I was a preschool teacher but after I crunched the numbers I saw that my income and the cost of our dream day care would almost even themselves out. ⁣

During our visit my aunty Dhira talked to me about how my cousin Simone introduced her to Poshmark. It felt like magic, the timing was everything. She was going to garage sales on the weekends and making a few hundred dollars a month. I was SO EXCITED and relieved to have something to hold me over until I could figure out my next career. ⁣

I grew up thrifting with my mama and going to garage sales with my aunty so I knew I loved it.

Later when everyone was asleep I researched Poshmark and stumbled across .state . I saw that Poshmark could be a career and everything just clicked. ⁣

As soon as we landed back in Portland, I tucked Eena in for her nap and went out sourcing to my favorite Goodwill outlet, bought inventory and ran home to list. I sold my first item that same day, a stripped Madewell shirt for $45. WHAAAATTTT ?!?!??!!?⁣

It all felt so right. ⁣

I realized that day that there was more to it. I had no brand knowledge (the Madewell top was sheer luck, I didn’t even know the brand), had no reselling background and knew that I wanted to learn and interact with the reselling community so I started this IG and haven’t looked back. ⁣

It's been a wild 11 months. Connecting with all of you has been a total dream. Thank you for being the reason I get to do what I love. ⁣

What is your Poshmark story? I would love to hear all about it.

Small changes can make a huge impact! ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
I very seldom focus on the small little changes. Most of the time I review the larger parts of my business - sales, profit, items listed. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
While those aspects are essential, so are the smaller things in life. The things that move the needle forward in your business without us even knowing it. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Here are 4 tiny changes that I didn’t realize would be game changers at the time - ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
𝟏 - 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐝𝐮𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐢𝐧 𝐛𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐤𝐬 ⁣⁣
I started noticing that towards the end of my work shifts I was producing slower, lower quality, work. Adding in a small break to stretch, drink some tea and get a hug - leaves me feeling refreshed and ready to jump back into work. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
𝟐 - 𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝟐 𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐡𝐞𝐥𝐩 𝐩𝐞𝐫 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤⁣⁣
One of my personal goals for 2020 was to ask for help. To be honest, I was uncomfortable with the idea of receiving assistance because I was looking at it as all or nothing. I didn’t want someone to come in and help every day. I now have my hubby helping photo items 2 hours a week and it’s made a HUGE difference. Small steps are ok. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
𝟑 - 𝐜𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐢𝐠𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞𝐬 ⁣⁣
We moved our family desktop into my studio 10 days ago and wow has it changed my work flow. Over the last 10 months I’ve created a space just for inventory, a shipping station, a photo set up and now a true desk space. It doesn’t all need to happen at once but having a space that makes you feel set up for success will only improve your work flow. 🙌🏽⁣⁣
⁣⁣
𝟒 - 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐩𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐭 ⁣⁣
I’m a serial multitasker but I’m slowly trying to change that. Instead of trying to do 4 things at once now I try to aim for 2 or just 1. It’s tricky, and not always possible - I am a mama after all. But I find that I am a lot happier and productive when I focus in on the task at hand. ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
What are some changes that you’ve made in your business? Remember they don’t have to be huge to count 😍⁣⁣

Celebrating reason 102 why we love USPS pick up, we don’t have to deliver in the snow. ⁣

Having our mail man Kevin come everyday to pick up packages, even when I don’t schedule it anymore, has been a game changer. ⁣

It’s one of my favorite luxuries and it’s free!!! ⁣

Do you use scheduled pick up or deliver your packages yourself? ⁣
