The smallest details are often the ones people remember.

When we create a collection with a club, we think beyond the product itself. Even something as simple as a hang tag becomes part of the experience.

For this upcoming collaboration with New Mexico United, we designed a custom tag in the club’s colors that introduces both brands together.

At the bottom you’ll notice a small detail: “Designed by Rick Gilbert.”

I didn’t put my name there for recognition. I put it there for accountability.

When your name is on something, it has to meet your standard. It’s a reminder to myself that every decision…from the first sketch to the final production sample should be worthy of signing.

In an age of AI and increasingly faceless products, I think there’s value in knowing a real person stood behind the work.

Even the details were intentional. The white cord echoes the signature mark, while the gold safety pin complements the club’s colors.

Craftsmanship lives in the details.

New Mexico has a special place in our family’s story. Jules and I were married in Santa Fe, her family called it home for many years, and we’ve proudly worked with Ski Santa Fe for nearly a decade.

I can’t share the finished product just yet—we always let our partners make that announcement first—but I’m excited for supporters to see what we’ve created together.

Thank you, New Mexico United for trusting us with this project.

Designed To Represent.💯

As a sophomore in high school, I came to the realization that I wasn’t going to be playing football for Notre Dame.

At the time, football was a huge part of my identity. When that dream faded, I was lost. I started skateboarding, skipping school, and eventually got caught doing graffiti.

A turning point came when my mom took me to a psychologist. His advice was simple: Try lacrosse.

So I joined my high school’s team that spring.

What I found was an incredible coach who genuinely cared about his players and a team full of athletes who, like me, had come from other sports.

My junior year, we won our championship game by beating a team that had blown us out just a few weeks earlier. That season taught me that if you stay committed to your goals and keep putting in the work, you’re capable of far more than you think.

I decided I was going to play college lacrosse.

My coach suggested Pfeiffer University, a Division II school in North Carolina. When their coach came to recruit me, I played one of the worst games of my life.

My biggest highlight? A towering moon ball bounced off my helmet and rolled to the sideline… about ten feet from where he was standing.

Somehow, he still offered me a spot on the team.

It would’ve been easy to post these new USA Lacrosse products with a caption like “Coming Soon.” But this project means more than that.

USA Lacrosse is headquartered in my home state of Maryland. Today, I coach my daughter’s lacrosse team here in Oregon, and this game has become part of our family’s life year-round.

Lacrosse is often called The Medicine Game.

In my experience, that couldn’t be more true.

I’m writing this after getting home from a tournament in Bend, where I spent another weekend watching kids build confidence through this sport. It’s the same game that changed the direction of my own life.

Getting the opportunity to design products for USA Lacrosse isn’t just another project for Grafletics.

It’s a reminder of where the journey started—and how one decision to pick up a stick can change the course of a life.

I’ll share our collaboration as the product gets released. Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Some snaps from my hat-making session last night. I wanted to show how one of our caps comes together…in this case, the This IS Where You Sprint Cap.

Each hat features six separate custom components: a microfiber patch with raised silicone on the front, plus our signature GA Rivet Mark on the side, which is attached by hand with a matching rivet.

Inside, you’ll find a woven label on the left and an oversized “Wear it out!” heat transfer graphic on the right.
It’s pretty cool to have the ability to prototype new ideas and produce full production runs right here in the Garagio.

It’s definitely a labor of love.

America’s original sport deserved a cap worthy of our nation’s 250th anniversary, so we partnered with USA Lacrosse to bring it to life.

Built from the ground up, every detail was thoughtfully designed—from the sublimated Stars & Stripes underbrim and inside crown to the red, white, and blue rope, tee holder, raised silicon and a proprietary performance nylon blend made to keep you cool in the summer heat.

As a coach, former player, and lifelong fan of the game, this is the hat I’ve always wanted to create. Seeing it come together with USA Lacrosse is something I’m incredibly proud of.

Wear it out! 🇺🇸🥍

America’s original sport deserved a cap worthy of our nation’s 250th anniversary, so we teamed up with USA Lacrosse to make one.

“Wear it out!” has become our mantra around here. It’s a reminder to use the gear, take the trip, run the trail, fish the river, and make some memories along the way.

We’re starting to weave that message directly into our products.

Father’s Day came a day early this year.

Yesterday I earned my first triathlon podium after three seasons of trying. 🏆

Naturally, I’m giving full credit to the “This Is Where You Sprint” cap. It delivered the turbo boost I needed over the final stretch.😎

Four years ago, I suffered a pretty significant ligament injury playing basketball. At the time, I wasn’t sure I’d ever get back to feeling 100%. Physical therapy led me to biking and swimming. Running followed shortly after.

And somehow, that journey led to a podium finish at Hagg Lake.

Swipe through to get a glimpse of race day: 70 degrees, puffy clouds, comfortable water temperatures, and a beautiful ride around the Hagg Lake.💦

Big shoutout to Why Racing Events for another fantastic event. We’re already looking forward to the Columbia Triathlon Festival in August.

If you’re looking for something fun, challenging, and active this summer, I can’t recommend their events enough. There are races and distances for just about everyone. 💨

Happy Father’s Day from our family to yours. 💚

Made a cap for triathlon season.

We’re calling it the “This Is Where You Sprint” Cap. The story behind the name is in the video I just posted on reels.

It’s already been field-tested at the PDX Triathlon Festival, and tomorrow it’ll make the trip to Hagg Lake for another round. Jules and I will be out there chasing PRs, and if things go sideways, we’ve always got the “This Is Where You Sprint” button reserved for the final stretch.

Wish us…and the cap…luck. 🏊🚴🏃

It took every marketing dollar we have. Let’s hope it works🤞💰
