New color alert! Say hello to Abandoned Subway 🚋

Growing up in 90’s Rochester, New York, the abandoned subway wasn’t just decaying transit infrastructure, it was pure local legend. Long after the cars stopped rolling in 1956, wild rumors swirled above ground. We heard whispers of secret subterranean art galleries and hidden communities living beneath the streets. Back before the internet could spoil the mystery, you had to rely on the stories of a few fearless kids who snuck into the dark, eerie tunnels and brought back grainy, prized photos to prove it.

Today, that historic stretch of the old Erie Canal aqueduct is a celebrated city landmark, its cavernous concrete walls draped in vibrant, ever-shifting graffiti art.

“Abandoned Subway” captures that exact intersection of urban lore and seasonal magic. It blends the fiery tones of autumn foliage with electric coral, bold red, warm yellow, and deep magenta combined with flashes of spray-paint green and gleaming city lights. Fall is, after all, the season of ghost stories, magic, and mystery. The trains may be gone, but the lure of Rochester's underground world is forever spun into this skein.

Fiber Night in August is heating up! This month we are meeting at Flight Wine Bar downtown, Lift Bridge Yarns in Fairport, and Faircraft Brauhaus in Fairport.

If you knit, crochet, spin, weave, embroider, cross stitch, or simply enjoy the good company of fiber crafty people you should come and check us out!

We meet every Wednesday night 6-8 pm and our events are always free!
