This weeks "Roses" go out to a high school football team that means a lot to us since all 3 of us graduated from Harlem. The Harlem Huskies football team proudly represents Machesney Park, Illinois. They are currently 8-0, and have already clinched at least a share of the NIC-10 Conference Championship! Hard work, determination, and team spirit have made this a season to remember. This Friday night, they take on the Boylan Titans with a chance to finish the regular season undefeated at 9-0 and claim the conference title.
GO HUSKIES!!!!

Today's Weekly Roses goes out to one of the reasons I(Aaron) skateboard to this day. When I was a kid looking through Thrasher magazines Mike Vallely or Mike V stood out to me. Thought he had an awesome style and killed on a skateboard. Coming out of New Jersey in the 1980s, Mike built a reputation for doing things his own way and became one of skateboarding’s most recognizable personalities. Beyond skating, he’s also a musician, artist, and longtime creative force in skate culture. His career has always been about individuality, perseverance, and refusing to follow the crowd. We definitely love all of that at We Are Roses. So if you've never checked out Mike V before, his videos are all over YouTube. He also had a show he was part of called Driven that's pretty good and available online. So join us in giving him his roses for being a pioneer in skateboarding and kicking a$$.
