From a one-off race held on the most remote island chain in the world, XTERRA evolved into an endurance sports lifestyle brand with worldwide appeal. Over the past 25 years XTERRA transcended its status as 'just a race' to become a bona fide way of life for thousands of intrepid triathletes and trail runners across the globe. It all started in 1996, when mountain biking and triathlon met in a duel

of the fittest on the island of Maui. The race consisted of a rough water ocean swim, a mountain bike race, and a trail run. It represented a bold new racing format that attracted triathletes and mountain bikers alike. The mountain bikers brought their laid-back style and bold self-assurance. The triathletes brought their hard-core training and avid dedication. They soon discovered a common spirit and attitude that pulled them together. For as different as they were, neither could resist the challenges and thrills this new multisport offered.

The South American Champs are wrapped, and every time we come back to Paipa, we’re reminded why this race means so much.

The people of Boyacá and Colombia have a way of making everyone feel at home. The support is genuine, the atmosphere is full of passion, and the whole weekend feels unmistakably XTERRA.

A huge thank you to Kapi, Sofia, Manu, and the entire local team. What they’ve built here goes far beyond a race. They’ve created a community that embraces athletes, families, volunteers, and visitors alike.

That feeling of taking on a new challenge. From the colours and sounds of the terrain that unfolds before you to the character and culture of those beside you. This October we celebrate that feeling first felt by the 123 athletes who pioneered the sport back in 1996 with a new World Championship course in the high-altitude mountains of New Mexico, USA. In less than 4 months we'll be there, ready to take on that challenge together with the same untamed spirit that has defined us for three decades of adventure.

The wild side, the crazy bunch, the off-road family, call us what you will, we wouldn't change it for the world. A young athlete who dreamed of becoming pro being welcomed in by those at the top without a hint of ego is the greatest example of what makes our sport different.

For years we’ve been quietly building around Yuyang Mountain. First the Base, then the trail run paths, and most recently, section by section, a purpose-built MTB loop. This year we’re ready to connect all three: the waters of Taihu Lake, the MTB loop, and the battle-tested trail run paths that cut through the mountain.

The stage is set, the date is set, and a new challenge awaits in this untapped corner of China. XTERRA Suzhou 2026. World Cup Short Track finale in Panmen Square October 29, Full Distance and Sprint Triathlons at the Base on November 1.
