Feeling the most grateful for the gift of being our Luna Rose’s home for the last 8 months. Can’t wait to meet this Gemini Fire Horse girl and see the trail she blazes in this world and begin this journey of Motherhood.
TW: talks of Fertility
Danny and I got engaged last April on a Sunday and on the following Wednesday I was diagnosed with early diminished ovarian reserve + a polyp that would have made it impossible for me to carry a child. (Not to mention an endometriosis diagnosis for over a decade.) We spent the next months consulting with 4 different fertility specialists who all told me the same thing: expect a minimum of 3 rounds of IVF for maybe a 20-30% chance of one viable embryo. (If you know anything about IVF stats and costs… this news sucked!) I spent post-engagement feeling broken & grieving the timeline of planning a wedding to celebrate our marriage with friends & family in Mexico and the option to wait to get pregnant in a few more years so I could continue to prioritize my career.
God had other plans. To our surprise we got pregnant naturally a month before we planned to start IVF.
I don’t share this story to brag, as I know many friends whose journeys have not been this lucky - but to encourage anyone else going through the emotional journey of fertility health or loss to still leave room for HOPE. It’s a science & an art.
And if you’re a perfectionist like me, this is your reminder to surrender your “perfect timeline” — sometimes things turn out way better than you could plan. And as one of my friends kept reminding me… maybe our baby is meant to be with us one day when we celebrate our wedding in Mexico.
Gracias mi amor for making me a mom & for being the most incredible attentive partner - you’re going to be the best Papa.
And Happy Mothers Day to all the women who have come before us, all the moms in the thick of it, the moms to be, those desiring to become a mom, the moms who are in the process, those grieving loss or fertility challenges & even the women who chose to not have children but pour into caring for others in so many unique ways that make the world a better place. I see you.
