Her hat making is inspired by the era where women wore hats everywhere and every day. Kelly Jo (Freichels) Schultz is the owner, designer and milliner for Angeline Alice Millinery. She named her new business after her two grandmothers, Angeline Freichels and Alice Grubich. They lived in an era where women wore hats everywhere and that is what inspired Kelly's hat making. She is originally from St.

Paul, Minnesota and lived in Bemidji from 2004-2023. She currently resides in the eastern suburbs of the Twin Cities. Kelly Jo's mother taught her to sew at age eight and the rest is history. Kelly’s passion is making hats, fascinators and accessories, but she also dabbles in alterations and making clothing. Kelly’s millinery creations were inspired by the Royal Wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton. Since April 29, 2011 Kelly has made hundreds of unique fascinators and hats. Some of Kelly’s favorite embellishments and textiles to use in her creations are feathers from birds native to Minnesota, ribbon, buttons, silk, satin, and rhinestones. Every item she makes is unique and you will never find another one exactly like it.

I am so excited for Polo Classic this Sunday! With everything going on with my dad's health and his move to assisted living next week, life has been super challenging. The other day, he told me, "you better get back to making some of those hats for the weekend!" I love my dad. He knows exactly what makes me tick and where my passions and talents live. So in my spare time this week, I have finished a few of the millinery pieces I had blocked but hadn't embellished. Now they are done and ready to be worn this Sunday. Thanks dad!

Life has been really heavy this past month. Just when I was getting into a wonderful groove making new millinery creations for this year's Polo Classic, my dad ended up in the hospital. For my followers and customers here who may not know, I've been my 86 year old father's caregiver for the past 2 years. He's doing much better now. He's in transitional care currently and heading to assisted living in a week or so, which means a lot of work getting everything ready for him. Family always comes before work. I had all these grand ideas to do a photoshoot before this year's event to promote my millinery, but that and other ideas were put on hold to take care of my dad. The good news is that I will definitely be at the Twin Cities Polo Classic on Sunday, August 2nd with my milliner friend Amy from , and I do have some beautiful new millinery creations, just not as many as I had planned on having there. Plus, I will have an entire table of retro Angeline Alice Millinery fascinators on sale for up to 50% off. Hope to see all you beautiful people there next Sunday!!
