We have already talked a lot about WHY you'd benefit from attending our workshop.

But what about Daisy May's "why"?

We want to build you up and empower you to love yourself, for exactly who you are right now, while still reaching for your full potential.

Because YOU are incredible and YOUR daughter is incredible. As we provide you with this opportunity to empower you and your daughter as individuals, we want to also empower your relationship TOGETHER as mother and daughter.

We want to help you bond and connect, and give you an opportunity to recognize the best in each other. We truly want you to leave with a better and stronger relationship with yourself and your daughter. 😘

It is no easy task keeping a group of females ages 8-89 entertained for several hours but we work super hard to make that happen for our workshop.

We do a few things:

We have breakout classes for different age groups and teach content according to each groups needs.

For example the 12-18 year olds attend a class on body positivity and resilience and the moms attend a class that teaches parenting skills and communication skills.

We also integrate hands on activities through out the workshop such as a make and take craft in which you learn a new skill together and a service project.

Not to mention the random giveaways, the yummy food and the dancing at the end.

All are designed to keep you and your daughters happy, learning and bonding.

Plus is helps when we have dynamic speakers such as who can charm, teach and entertain the pants off of anyone.

There are still spots left. Go to our bio or stories for the link to register.

Why, when given equal time, do kids report more depression or su***de ideation after scrolling social media than gaming?...
06/21/2023

Why, when given equal time, do kids report more depression or su***de ideation after scrolling social media than gaming? Particularly in girls?

I believe a large component is the nature of what scrolling social media does to your mind.

Social media changes your perspective to deficit thinking. Scrolling through other people's reference points makes you measure yourself against external standards rather than internal.

Using the vast world of social media as your measuring stick for success will keep you in the negative. It's nearly impossible for a person to accomplish one lifetime of ideals let alone an infinite number of them.

So why doesn't gaming cause the same issue? Here's my theory:

Gaming gives an internal reference point.

In gaming you have a health bar or levels to pass. Not only do you have specific goals to accomplish but you are also able to see your progress from where you started.

This is key. This way of measuring is more internally driven. You are able to measure and see your own progress which inspires, rather than disheartens.

So what can we do about this?

For me it means checking my own internal motivators. Recognize when social media influences my perspectives and sets unhealthy standards.

It means acknowledging my progress and being aware that happiness is a starting point, not an end goal.

And for this account? It means that my litmus test for what I share will answer the following: Will this help or hinder? Will my content give perceived benchmarks or encourage intrinsic effort?

I hope it can both inspire improvement while also celebrating growth.

Social media isn't going away and it's not all bad but maybe we can become wiser in how consume and create on it.
