Personal Design (Dream Dress)

1. Design and Sketching

2. Taking Measurements and Sizing
*Measure accurately: Record your bust, waist, hips, and torso length using a soft tape measure. *
*Select a base pattern: Find a commercial pattern or a sloper block that matches your basic measurements to modify.
3. Fabric Selection and PreparationChoose the right fabric:
*Pick a material that matches the drape and weight you want for your design.Pre-wash the fabric:
*Wash and dry your fabric ahead of time to prevent future shrinkage.
4. Making a Mockup (Muslin Fitting)
*Sew a test garment: Construct a trial version using cheap fabric like cotton muslin to test the fit.
*Adjust the fit: Pin and alter the mockup on your body to fix any tight spots or design lines before cutting your real fabric.
5. Cutting and Sewing the Final Dress
*Cut the fabric: Lay your adjusted pattern pieces flat on your main fabric and carefully cut them out.
*Assemble the pieces: Sew the bodice first, attach the skirt, and add any linings or sleeves.
*Install closures: Add zippers, buttons, or hooks as required by your design.
6. Final TouchesPress seams:
*Use a hot iron to press all seams flat for a clean, professional look.
*Hem the edges: Trim loose threads and hem the bottom of the dress to your desired length
