This Mexico City find deserves its own post because it is such an oddity… two antique metal sculptural fragments well suited for a cabinet of curiosities. The wart like protrusions are likely caused by mineral encrustations and corrosion but closely resemble a medical condition, elephantiasis! Returning to 2010.. the start of FunkyRelic… with these succulent filled late 1800’s silver plated containers for sale Antiques at Broadway .The aesthetic movement in silver took inspiration from nature and I love the pieces with insects, birds and even spider webs. There are more unplanted pieces at the front of the store. In 2010, I found a treasure trove of ceramic containers in Arkansas, filled them with succulents and started at a market in Monte Vista. The last pic is from my website as I didn’t save the picture.

Mexico City flea markets! The pics I took before the shopping bug took over which was almost immediately. I didn’t capture it but many vendors just lay out their goods on the ground… lots of squats!😊 Jardín Dr. Ignacio Chavez was the best for just vintage and antiques. Saturday is the day. Sunday is for La Lagunilla market. Antiques, vintage and much more! Get there early… a maze of stalls not well organized and it gets scary crowded. Stay tuned for the Mexico City haul.
