Some stories don’t get rushed 🤍 in the background of this small brand, we’re working on something that goes deeper than a sale or a product on our website…

Over eight years ago, our founder Emily Rathmanner met a group of women here in Intag, Ecuador and together created what you know as MINGA | Handmade Sweaters, Hats, Bags + More. Long before we existed, these women were already keeping an art form alive, generation after generation, creating products , a fiber harvested by hand from the penca (agave) plant.

We’re exploring their rich story and knowledge, why this craft has started to disappear, and these women’s quiet, lifelong connection to the earth — alongside a dream team of creatives Joe M. Han Emily Rathmanner Ricardo Ramos Pri | Photo + Video and more.

Lately at home ➿ The last days of August always feel nostalgic 🤍 grateful for orders going out, time spent offline, in inspiring places while still appreciating a sense of home.

We’re hoping to have another batch of sweaters to drop in the next few weeks so please sign up for our newsletter in the link in our bio to know first. The response has been overwhelming and we’re excited to announce that a fresh collection of knits will be coming at the end of September. A day in the life with Carmen 🌿 working with the art of Cabuya, a natural fiber made from the leaves of the Penca plant (cousin of the agave). Harvested, washed, dried, brushed, conditioned, dyed and crocheted by hand, cabuya has been used across Ecuador for generations to create everything from rope to woven goods. Our artisan partners use it to craft our bucket hats and bags.

Artist, Carmen, is one of about 15 women across the region of Intag who keeps this craft alive. She’s witty, strong and pretty funny — this was filmed while spending the day at Carmen’s home, watching her work, learning from her, laughing with her, and getting to meet her neighbors.
