Your people will actually wear this. πŸ‘†

That's the bar. Not "will they take it." Not "will it sit in a drawer." Will they actually put it on because they're proud of where they came from and what they're part of.

We've made merch for churches, tribal communities, summer camps, colleges, and nonprofits, and the thing they all have in common is that the gear means something. It's not just a t-shirt. It's a "we did this together" moment you can hold in your hands.

Summer projects book fast. If your organization has something coming up, a retreat, a camp, a fundraiser, a new season, let's build it before the timeline gets away from you.

The scariest quality control moment of my career happened on one of my first solo jobs.

A friend had placed an order for their business β€” which, if you know anything about working with people you actually care about, makes the stakes feel about ten times higher. I was doing the proofs on my own for the first time. I color dropped the logo, built everything out, sent it through.

What I didn't do was pull out the Pantone book and verify that the color I was working with actually matched the blue called out in their branding.

The order went to print.

I had no idea anything was wrong until our post production girl walked into my office mid-run holding a shirt. She had noticed something looked off. Went and pulled up the company's social media to compare. Checked the prints coming off the dryer. Felt the urgency and came straight to me.

She was right.

It wasn't their baby blue. It was reading green-blue. Completely different. And they were already running.

I had to stop the press. Being brand new, I didn't even fully understand what that meant in terms of cost β€” new blanks, lost time, a blown timeline. But I understood one thing clearly: we don't ship wrong.

We pulled it. We fixed it. We ate every bit of the cost.

The client never knew it almost went out wrong. And that's exactly how it should be.
Quality control isn't the last step. It's every step. And sometimes it's the person at the dryer who saves the whole job. πŸ–€

What's the most unexpected branded product you've ever seen at an event? Drop it below πŸ‘‡ I love a good "wait, they made THAT?" moment.

Nobody expects the socks.

And then they see them and suddenly everyone wants socks. 🧦

We can put your brand on basically anything that exists β€” and yes, that includes socks. Custom knit logo, striped cuff, the whole situation. They're one of the best trade show giveaways nobody thinks of until they see someone else do it.

This is Shara.

She has been with Planet Apparel since the beginning. She runs our bandana department like it's her baby β€” because it kind of is. She knows every bandana type, every ink option, every packaging situation you could throw at her, and she will answer your email same day and probably call you to walk through it personally. She's also lowkey a comedian.

If you've ever placed a bandana order with us, you've talked to Shara. And if you have, you know.
She is the reason our reviews say what they say. πŸ–€

We don't talk enough about the people behind the products. This is me talking about the best of them.

Drop a 🫑 in the comments if you or someone you love has served.

Happy Memorial Day to everyone who has served, and to the families who have supported them. πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡Έ

Today we pause. Tomorrow we get back to it. But today β€” thank you. πŸ–€

Something nobody tells you when you start working in custom merch:
You will become a consultant whether you plan to or not.

Because the clients who stick around β€” the ones who order consistently, who trust you, who come back season after season β€” they don't just need someone to print their shirts. They need someone to tell them when an idea won't work, when the timeline is too tight, when the colorway they fell in love with won't read on that fabric.

They need someone who's seen enough to have an opinion.

Some of my VIP accounts and I have standing weekly calls. We talk about upcoming campaigns, seasonal releases, what's moving and what isn't, what they want their team to feel when they put on the next drop.

It's one of my favorite parts of this job. And honestly it's one of our biggest differentiators as a company.

Not every merch vendor will tell you the truth. We will. πŸ–€

This is what a multi-order client relationship looks like.

Rancho Valencia Resort & Spa didn't just place one order with us. They came back. And then again. Each time with something new β€” tees, hoodies, beanies, bucket hats β€” all cohesive, all elevated, all exactly what you'd expect from a luxury resort brand.

That's the goal every time. Not just a good order. A good relationship.

If you're managing merch for a hotel, resort, restaurant, or hospitality brand β€” we know this space and we'd love to talk. πŸ“© [email protected]

The details are the brand. πŸ–€

Inside neck labels. Custom hangtags. Tonal embroidery. A bandana tucked into the pocket just so.
Iron & Velvet doesn't miss on the details and neither do we. Every piece we produce for them goes through the same obsessive process β€” because when you're building a brand, the thing people touch and wear has to feel as intentional as everything else you put out.

If your brand has a standard and you need a production partner who actually holds it β€” that's us. Link in bio to get started.

Zoom in on those samples. πŸ” Tell me what you see.

This is what a Press Check actually looks like sometimes.

On the floor. Surrounded by prints. Comparing this version to that version and trying to figure out why the green reads different on the actual fabric than it did on screen.

Color theory is wild. Fabric composition changes everything. And no amount of staring at a monitor prepares you for the moment you hold the physical sample in your hands under real light.

This is why we do strike offs before we run a full order. This is why we push back when a client says "just match it to the logo file." Because a logo file and a screen printed garment are two completely different conversations. We pay attention to the small details, do you see them?
