Did you know that "trick or treating" has roots dating back to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain?

Here's a quick history lesson and some fun facts:

• The practice evolved from "souling" in medieval Britain and Ireland, where poor folks would beg for food in exchange for prayers.

• In North America, trick-or-treating became popular in the 1930s, but was paused during World War II due to sugar rationing.

• It exploded in popularity in the 1950s, helped by the Peanuts comic strip featuring it in 1951.

Common Trick or Treat activities today:

2. Door-to-door candy collecting 🍫🍭
3. Jack-o'-lantern carving 🎃
