How do you balance making a registry and letting people buy you nice things, with trying to be environmentally/economically sustainable in preparing for baby?

Honestly—great question. The replies were full of thoughtful, practical advice we wanted to pass along:

📝 Some parents added a short note to their registry to explain their approach
♻️ Others welcomed secondhand or emphasized that they didn’t want too much
💳 A few mentioned suggesting gift cards to keep it flexible
🧸 Many focused on the basics and steered clear of extra gadgets
💬 And a lot of it came down to being clear and kind in how you communicate
