Good Friday
It didn’t begin at the cross… it began with regret.
Judas, seeing Jesus condemned, returned the thirty pieces of silver… and in his despair, took his own life.
Then the crowd was given a choice: Jesus or Barabbas.
They chose Barabbas.
The mocking followed.
They stripped Him. Placed a purple robe on His shoulders. Forced a crown of thorns onto His head… blood falling down His face.
They put a staff in His hand, knelt before Him, and said, “Hail, King of the Jews.”
Then they struck Him. Beat Him. Spit on Him.
And then came the flogging.
A whip lined with bone and metal… each strike tearing into His back.
Many never survived this alone.
Pilate stood before them and said, “I find no fault in Him.”
But fear spoke louder than truth… and he handed Jesus over.
Then came the cross. The nails.
Crucifixion was not just death… it was slow suffocation.
Above His head, a sign read: “King of the Jews.”
Meant to mock… yet it spoke truth.
Two criminals hung beside Him.
One mocked Him.
The other said, “Remember me…”
And even then… Jesus answered with mercy.
He spoke few words, but every one mattered.
“Father, forgive them… for they do not know what they are doing.”
Forgiveness… in the middle of unimaginable pain.
From noon until three, darkness covered the land…
creation responding to its Creator.
Then He cried out, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?”
Not a loss of faith… but the fulfillment of prophecy.
And then: “It is finished.”
The work was done.
The debt paid.
The separation broken.
The veil in the temple tore in two… from top to bottom.
The barrier between God and man… removed.
The earth shook. Rocks split. Tombs opened.
Even creation could not remain still.
A soldier pierced His side, looked up, and said,
“Surely this was the Son of God.”
And there stood His mother…
carrying a grief no words could hold.
His body was taken down, wrapped, and placed in a tomb.
A stone was rolled into place. Sealed.
The world thought it was over.
That darkness had won.
That death had the final word.
Little did they know.
