This new ADU project is a wrap for now until the frame is completed. We completed the excavation, backfilling, tied in the existing wall to match the new foundation, underground water sleeve, underground plumbing, underground electrical, perimeter drain, and sonotube’s. Not sure if there is anything I May have missed but this was definitely a tight job. Everything hauled out and all structural material hauled back in. 5’ offset to the rear and right building setbacks and only 18’ between the front of the new ADU and the existing home. We will be back to touch everything up when it’s time to pour concrete slabs and the new asphalt driveway. We we completed the last few final touches this morning and as we were loading our last excavator out of the job lumber was arriving. Off to the next one!

Last Monday we completed this emergency sewer repair in Worcester. These 2 three deckers off Shrewsbury St were connected to a private Sewer main that was installed in 1889. Yes 1889! We redirected them from this old private main and connected them to the “Newer” 12” Draper main which was installed in 1894 in-front of these properties. One service was cored and booted into a brick manhole and the other we saddled the main with a rubber saddle and corded a hole in the existing main for the new service. In the midst of excavating we found a leaking iron gas service that was also installed in 1891 when these homes were built. Thank you A. J. Belcufine for the vac truck service on this project and David Eagan for the manhole core.

Beginning of last week we worked on Park hill Ave in Millbury to get the sewer and Water Laterals stubbed off the roadway. The rest of this project will be completed in a couple of weeks with the 300’+ run to the new home soon to be built. Roadway was backfilled with flowable fill and the sewer for the home will have a E-One sewer injection system that only requires a 1 1/4” service that we ran into an existing sewer manhole. Thank you Dauphinais Concrete for the flowable fill and K&D Tap with the live 1” direct water tap.

Last Thursday afternoon and Friday we dug out the existing driveway at this home and expanded it on Malden St Worcester....

Last Thursday afternoon and Friday we dug out the existing driveway at this home and expanded it on Malden St Worcester. We completed a 12”+ dig out, installed 12” gravel sub base, paved 2” basecoat, and paved 1 1/2” topcoat.

Ended the week with backfilling this ADU project. We installed a underground 2” PVC water sleeve from existing house into the new ADU, sub graded for interior underground plumbing, Underground Electric, backfilled the interior foundation for concrete slabs, perimeter drain extension, and wall add on to meet the new foundation. Next week we will prep exterior slabs, remove excess fill, install sonotube’s, and final grade the driveway. Framing starts next Thursday!

Busy week starting off with this new home addition that wouldn’t work with the existing homes sewer line that left the property on the opposite end of the house which is a slab and has no basement. After completing the sewer we helped backfill some of the new foundation with our equipment along with hammering some very large rocks that were found on the site. We wrapped up this project by completing a 12” gravel sub base and paving a 2” basecoat of hot asphalt on their new driveway. Another job completed by Barrows Paving & Excavating & Staruk, Incorporated. On to the next one.
