Dear Earth Funeral (link in comments). Love that you have brought Natural Organic Reduction (NOR) to New England! This is good news all around. And. It is not now and will never be the greenest body disposition choice. In New England direct natural burial is still the greenest choice. There are a lot of good and environmentally sound reasons to choose NOR. However, more than the body goes in the bin and producing and transporting those ingredients has a carbon footprint that NOR proponents continue to ignore and are not stating in the specs that people use to compare. As a result, the greenwashing the industry engages in is kind of deplorable, in my deeply informed, burial savvy, funeral educated, well considered, professional and humble opinion. For people to compare disposition processes and make informed choices they need facts. Not just the romance of becoming compost... Call me and talk about it if you want. Our death care and funerary artisan colleague Fraser Baskets has started a fund to support willow basket making for infant and toddler burials. I am trusting that anyone browsing here already understands why this is so important. Please share and give as you are able.

I am starting an infant and toddler casket community fund!
My pricing for infant and child caskets starts at $0.0. This is not because they’re cheap to make, it’s so that families who have to go through the pain of losing a child don’t have to also fork over large funds in order to have a meaningful and comforting burial ceremony. Here is a note from Michelle Acciavatti, Pregnancy Loss Guide and Founder of Vermont Forest Cemetery:
“Having to bury a baby is an almost unimaginable thing, but for parents facing that reality the option of a beautiful basket made by hand can help them feel like their baby will be given to earth in a loving and peaceful way.
