It’s been a long time since I’ve been on here-lots going on in my life, changes happening, and so is my creative passions. Besides crochet, I am now officially addicted to cookie decorating! I have taken some courses, made some cookies for a few showers, and am looking forward to making more! So, consider this your warning that there will now be cookies posted on Creative Creations by Vicki, too.

I’ve been getting in some serious crochet time this past month, how about you? In the midst of making a blanket for my daughter, I whipped this beauty up in a week using the double stranded method with a J hook and Lion Brands Cupcake yarn. This pattern is similar to the Hugs and Kisses blanket, only you can design it to fit your sizing needs. Be on the lookout for the pattern to be up on my blog within the next week.

I have just finished making a blanket for one of my grandchildren and have been thinking on the next grandchild’s blanket I plan to make. He is only 4 years old but I plan on making the blanket in a few of his favorite colors and large enough to be used throughout his life, not just childhood. I was not looking forward to finding a pattern or designing one that would work well with the yarn I was going to use because I wasn’t quite sure what I wanted to do, and then lo and behold all free crochet posts this blanket! Granted, this is a baby blanket so I will have to alter it, but I love the masculine look of the pattern. It will work for an adult man as well as a child. Can’t wait for my Lion Brands Cupcake yarn to come in! https://www.missedstitches.com/2014/12/block-party-baby-blanket-crochet-pattern.html?m=1

I have five children and have made each of them their own adult sized blanket when they got older to take with them when they ultimately moved out. My youngest has been wanting hers for years, and now that she is a senior in high school, I am designing hers now.

The worst part of it all, though, is making the foundation row of chains, getting a few rows into the blanket, deciding the original plan is not going to work, and you have to rip it out. Again and again. 😫😫 (Those nightmare-ish foundation chains!)

Thankfully, I think I’ve finally got it! 🎉🎉Third times a charm! Share what beeeutiful creations you are all working on to keep yourself busy during these crazy days! Stay safe peeps!!💕

My newest yarn addiction has been with Mandala yarn. These are my latest projects made using two strands of Mandala yarn, staggering the color of the two strands in the beginning, making the color changes even more subtle.

Off and on for years I tried knitting and just never fell in love with it, although I loved knitted garments themselves. Until Now.
A pair of bamboo circular knitting needles have captured my crafting heart, and I am "hooked"!! : Just a slight bit of friction between the yarn and the needles, and the needles themselves, and they are much more comfortable to use than those huge long things getting in your way.
Here is my first attempt at making anything-a baby blanket. I made a few errors in it, and found I need to focus more on what I'm doing than when I am crocheting, so I had to cast off and I am starting again, this time paying even more attention to my increases and decreases.
But I am in love, all over again with yarn crafting.
