AMEN 🙌🙌

Some of the hardest decisions a parent will ever make are the ones no one else fully understands.

Choosing peace over chaos.
Choosing boundaries over guilt.
Choosing a healthier future over familiar discomfort.

Not every door you close is a loss. Sometimes it's the beginning of the life your family deserves.

Protecting your well-being isn't selfish. It's one of the greatest gifts you can give the people who depend on you most.

This morning, my six-year-old asked me:

“What is it like to be a mother?”

It was such a good question that I turned right around and asked her:

“What’s it like to be a kid?”

And maybe we don’t ask each other questions like that nearly enough.

What’s it like to be a mother… for you?

What’s it like to be the one carrying the mental load? The one learning to let go? The one missing your old self? The one loving this season? The one barely making it through? The one finding joy in the chaos? The one grieving what motherhood didn’t look like?

And what’s it like to be a kid?

To live in a world where everyone is bigger than you, making decisions for you, correcting you, protecting you… while you’re just trying to understand how life works.

What would happen if we got curious about each other’s perspectives instead of assuming we already know?

Not to debate them. Not to compare them. Just asking to understand.

Growth often starts here in the willingness to ask, “Tell me what it’s like to be you.”

Maybe moms need more of that from each other.

Less performance. More perspective.

Less “I should be doing it this way.”

More “I never thought about it like that.”

The power lies in our group experience and our willingness to share openly. There is no one right way to mother, or one right way to grow up. If we are willing to ask understanding someone else’s view that expands our own.

Her question reminded me of this:

The people around us are carrying entire worlds we cannot see.

What if we took a little more time to ask and really listen?

Full disclosure this is not my photo. I don’t remember where I found it, but I love the message ❤️

When my kids were little, I answered everything for them. Partly because I knew the answers, partly because we’re moms and efficiency becomes a survival skill, and partly because I had so much pride for what they were working on, and who they were becoming.

But my kids aren’t little anymore. And I still jump in too fast.

Someone asks my daughter a question and before she can answer, I’m saying, “She’s been working really hard on her swing,” or “She loves that,” or “She’s doing great.”

I mean well. But she deserves the space to use her own voice.

So here’s me asking for accountability.

If you see me jump in too quickly… please remind me to pause and give her space to answer her own questions, tell her own stories, share her own growth.

Anybody else learning to parent the age and stage your kids are actually in and not the one you got really good at? 😬🤣

Being in this business is a little different than most… because the truth is, mamas only need us for a season. 💛

It’s a beautiful season and but often a hard, emotional, and ever-changing one. And while you may only need maternity or nursing pieces for a short time, what we’re really here for goes beyond clothing.

Every purchase you make helps keep this space going—a space where mamas can ask questions, feel seen, be supported, and know they’re not doing this alone. That part matters just as much as the clothes.

So if you’ve ever felt supported here, found something that made you feel like yourself again, or just quietly followed along during a tough season, I’d be so grateful if you helped us reach the next mama who needs it.

Tag a mama who’s in the thick of it. Tag a mama who could use comfortable, confidence-boosting pieces. Tag a mama who just needs a little extra support right now.

As a small thank you, we’re giving away THREE coffee gift cards ☕️

To be eligible:
• Tag a mama (each tag = one entry)
• Make sure you’re following Tailored Mama Boutique
• Bonus entry: share this post to your stories and tag us

Winners will be announced May 15.

Thank you for helping us continue showing up for mamas who need it most. 🤍 Dory

It matters who you surround yourself with

The right people meet you exactly where you’re at. You can bring them any question, any idea, any “this might sound silly but…” moment—and instead of dismissing it, they sit with you. They help you think it through, analyze it, and find a real answer. No judgment. No pressure to be anything other than who you are in that moment.

Those kinds of people will either elevate your journey or quietly drain it. It’s that simple.

I’ve learned this the hard way: don’t make exceptions. Don’t spend your energy in spaces where you feel like you have to morph into something uncomfortable just to belong. That’s not where growth happens—that’s where you lose pieces of yourself.

Protect your energy. Choose people who expand you, not ones who require you to shrink.

—All my love, Dory 🤍
