Elizabeth Park Rose Garden is a place where families gather, children laugh, friends connect, and memories are made. It hosts weddings, community activities, and provides a space for healing, peace of mind, and reflection. It is truly a special place for everyone.
Today was a beautiful day filled with laughter, family fun, and stunning flowers that captivated visitors throughout the park. Unfortunately, that peaceful atmosphere was disrupted this afternoon when a group of individuals on scooters rode through areas near families visiting the Rose Garden. What was even more concerning was that they were wearing masks that concealed their faces.
As a member of this community and someone who deeply values our parks, I want to be clear: this type of behavior is unacceptable. Our parks should remain safe, welcoming spaces for families, residents, and visitors alike. We will not stand by and tolerate actions that threaten the sense of security and enjoyment that so many people come here to experience.
I look forward to meeting with West Hartford community groups and other local leaders who are committed to doing their part to help address these concerns. Together, we can continue working to create and maintain a safe, respectful, and inclusive community for everyone.
