To all of my formerly-gifted-and-talented, never-asking-for-help, neurodivergent-and-teetering-on-the-verge-of-burnout small biz owners: I want to (unsolicited) share something from Your Coach Meg here for a minute.

She has a unique way of cutting through the BS that my brain tries to throw in my own way, and an email she sent recently has been bubbling around in my brain:

“There's a phrase I hear all the time:
"I'll figure it out."

On the surface, this sound hopeful…. Responsible, even.

But after coaching people professionally for more than 15 years, I've started to hear those words differently. Because most of the time... "I'll figure it out." Really means...

"I'll keep carrying this by myself."
"I'll give it a little more time."
"Maybe it'll become obvious."

And before they know it...
A few months have passed. Or a year.
Sometimes even longer… and that can cost you.

Not because they're lazy or because they don't care….

Because they're smart.

They've always been able to solve problems, so they assume this one should be no different.”

Asking for help from your circle DOES NOT mean that you’ve failed to do it all yourself.

I finished this Rachel Tote yesterday night (talk about down to the wire!) and I’m really VERY pleased with it 🖤. I added an inch to the overall length and heavily modified the back panel to be a travel handle pass-through. It worked out exactly how I’d hoped: and it can also be a zipper pocket whenever I’m not traveling!

I’m very pleased with how this custom leather handbag turned out! It was my first time sewing veg tanned leather, and first time really, really trying to do good edge coating (red edge paint on white leather, no pressure! 🫨)

It took me about a week to plan and another week and a half to sew and finish. I still see so many things I could have done better but overall I’m very happy with how it turned out. New year, new skills 💪
