It's Spring Creek Memorial Trail Run time on July 18th, one of our most beloved races.

Two of our female crew members were out at the crack of dawn before work this morning starting to clear the private property section of the course. Don't worry, they will make sure to leave plenty of obstacles for you to jump over. 😊

This race is over 35 years old and is a really special treat. The ~10M race travels through a closed trail and private property before heading up Buff pass to Dry Lake where you get to experience the beautiful Spring Creek trail all the way down to the finish. Think wildflowers, aspen trees, 15 small bridges to cross and 1 special creek.

9 1/2 and 5K options are available, great post race party and raffle for all at the Gazebo afterwards. Please sign up early so that we can properly plan for food!

Registration is open at www.runningseries.com

In 2018 a young woman on vacation with her mother, showed up last minute on a whim and decided to run our beloved Spring Creek Memorial Trail Run in July.

To our knowledge, she had not run a trail race before, but she was a track and field athlete in college at the time.

This race is partly run through an unimproved challenging section of private property ( think jumping over logs, through ferns and over downed trees) and then down the absolutely gorgeous flowy Spring Creek Trail, coming in just under 10 miles.

As a popular mountain town, we have had a lot of fast runners run this classic 35 year old race on both the women and mens side. The womens course record over many years has been held by pro runners like Anna Mae Flynn and Emily Torrance.

In 2018 this unknown, very humble, quiet and sweet young woman came in and smashed the record while floating over the terrain. That CR still stands and only one person has come within a couple minutes of it.

That young woman was as pictured here in the article from the race in the Steamboat Pilot⭐️

We can only imagine that 9 years ago she couldn't have imagined that she would one day win and set a CR on one of the most competitive and prestigious trail races on the face of the Earth, the Western States Endurance Run and inspire us all!

We want our local young female runners and girls everywhere, to see this as inspiration and possibility as to what you can accomplish!

Congratulations , absolutely spectacular, we are so happy for you, the sky is the limit!

Our hearts are with families of the 3 brave wildland fire fighters who lost their lives this weekend battling the Snyder fire on the CO-UT border, as well as those injured.

We are indebted to these brave men and women and all emergency responders who keep us safe. We ask everyone to exercise extreme caution this summer when spending time outdoors.

Thank you ❀️

We need to give a heartfelt and huge thank you to every single one of our amazing volunteers today. These types of events take a village and we could not do it without you, thank you, thank you, thank you!

The non profit Steamboat Springs Running Series is one of the oldest series in the state of Colorado and some of our races are 30 and 40+years old.

Due to the running series being such an institution of consistency, it was very exciting to design and produce a brand new event this year. Thank you to everyone who joined us in this inaugural year as we worked out how to be in 2 places at the same time, while utilizing some fun trails we do not often race on. Thank you to SBT GVL for having us as part of this amazing weekend!

Best of luck to everyone riding tomorrow, we wish you a safe day out on the gravel roads of Routt County!
