HardCord Creations Why do I use primarily 550 paracord? First I’ll give you a short history of paracord.. Paracord is a lightweight nylon kernmantle rope. I’ll tell you why!

In World War 2, paracord was originally used in the suspension lines of US parachutes. After landing, paratroopers found many uses for the cord. It is now used as a general purpose utility cord by both military personnel and civilians. Paracord was even used by astronauts during STS-82, the second space shuttle mission to repair the Hubble Space Telescope. Now to answer the original question… Why

paracord? This amazing cord can support up to 550 lbs. 550 Paracord has an outer sheath of 32 interwoven strands that have a tensile strength of 305 pounds alone! On the inside there are 7 more strands which have a strength of 35 pounds each. Thats another 245 pounds of tensile strength. This incredibly thin yet strong cord can be utilized in so many ways. From securing your trunk shut, to replacing a shoe lace. With great tensile strength, comes many uses. And to top it off, it can also be “gutted”. The 7 inner strands can be pulled from its core to be use for fishing line, sewing, snares and much more. It is an extremely versatile cord and a definite asset to have. Also, the 7 inner strands can be easily peeled into 14 thinner strands (which have a 17.5 lb. tensile strength) to be used as dental floss or fishing line as well as anything else you can think of. Oh, and it looks awesome!
