Learn one of the best drills for dancers of any style and any level: single-leg airplane. It directly targets what dance actually demands: standing on one leg while everything else moves.
Why it works 👇
✈️ Strengthens your glutes & hip stabilizers → keeps your hips level and square on one leg
✈️ Trains ankle proprioception → your #1 defense against sprains (the most common dance injury)
✈️ Loads hamstrings & glutes → real strength, not just flexibility
✈️ Teaches control through range → the difference between “I can lift my leg” and “I can hold it there
3️⃣ things to watch:
❌ Don’t arch your lower back to lift the leg higher - keep your spine long
❌ Don’t lock the standing knee - keep it soft
❌ Don’t chase height over control - control wins every time
Try 3 sets of 8 slow reps per leg. Bonus round: close your eyes. 😉
