Today I’m am thankful for Melanie Gibson, my beautiful wife of 22.5 years. Thinking back over our lives together I am realizing the impact she has had on me personally, our family, and the hundreds, maybe thousands of people and children over that time. From teaching 2nd grade, bringing students to our home for burned chicken fried steak, to 4th grade at SIS, to reading intervention, to graduate student at ACU, to mom and children’s ministry at 4th and Elm, to friend, to camp director to community servant and leader. All while loving me and our family every step of the way. I cannot count the conversations, the prayers, the acts of service she has shared with countless people who sometimes just needed someone to talk to. She’s really good at asking questions, relentlessly. She lives with a desire to serve others, her way of loving. She seeks deep friendships and relationships, she strives to do the very best she can at everything she does. She does lose her keys and water bottle and phone daily, but we love her anyway. She’s imperfect, but she loves God and he’s not worried, nor am I, about those imperfections. In fact, that makes me appreciate and love her more. Thank you Melanie, for giving your life to God. Thank you, for giving your life to others. May you be encouraged by the people who love you today.
