Growing up in the Netherlands, I was always encouraged to be productive, with my mom teaching me to sew, knit and crochet—I loved it! My mother-in-law later introduced me to paper art and I started looking at paper differently; wallpaper, scrap-booking paper, all kinds of paper ignited my new passion. Soon I started making greeting cards, as well as gift tags and gift card holders; while sending t
hem to my family and friends for special occasions, I used different techniques, but truly enjoyed 3D paper art the most, in combination with embroidery—a well-loved greeting card style in Europe. LyLu Designs

Each 3D-paper image, layer by layer, is meticulously cut out by hand, then assembled. Each LyLu Design is hand-stitched (customers are often amazed by this), in that no two projects are alike. From an initial idea to the final product, more than three hours will pass but…what comes out in the end is always a pleasant surprise. I just can’t wait to see the end result! Oftentimes my customers have said they even frame these special mementos. LyLu Designs was launched, after being prompted by friends to start my own business selling my creations. One special friend even helped come up with the name for my business. “Ly” comes from the first two letters of my first name and “Lu”, the first two letters of my last name. It is my desire to use the talents God has given me to ultimately honor Him, yet at the same time share these unique handcrafted items with you.
