A Personal Blog. A Poem. A Reminder.
As I await my second baby entering the world (just a few weeks out now), I feel my creativity has shifted into some other kind of exhausting productive energy. The to-do list is never ending and my nervous system says everything is a fire drill. I feel myself spiraling into chaos somedays and too exhausted to start anything the next.
Waves
of momentum,
of productivity,
and expectations,
picking up at full speed to
CRASH into a rocky shore
halting all motion without compunction.
And then back out to sea
gaining momentum
until another violent crash of waves and rock.
Why am I writing this?
Well... I think we all experience this at different times in our lives and careers. This cycle of wave pounding has the ability to erode us. But there is also something beautiful about learning to ebb and flow. To ride the wave. To slow down and speed up and slow down again. Maybe I'm losing you but all I'm trying to say is everyday can't be a race to the finish line. We gotta pace ourselves.
How are you pacing yourself? Are you giving yourself grace to complete the task list tomorrow? Are you finding outlets that gently remind you to take pause? If not, this is your reminder (and obviously mine too š).
