We've been doing a little housekeeping over at StoryWorkHouse, and our YouTube channel has a fresh new look!

We're a small but growing channel, and we're working to bring you more consistent content that encourages, challenges, and sometimes just makes you smile.

Right now, we've got three different kinds of content for you to enjoy!

Corny, Called, and Chosen (CCC) — Conversations about God, faith, identity, and the big questions we all wrestle with.

Youth Group Magazine (YGM) — Real conversations about the challenges teens face, helping teens, Parents, and Youth Leaders connect faith with everyday life.

Welcome to Our House — A little bit of everything else! Family moments, behind-the-scenes fun, personal stories, and whatever else happens around the house!

Teens, we spent this week talking about identity, comparison, style, confidence, and all the pressure that comes with trying to fit in.

The truth is, there will always be somebody with better shoes, a different look, more attention, more followers, or more approval. If you build your identity around those things, you will always feel like you are chasing something.

Your identity is established by God.

That means you can enjoy style without letting it define you. You can appreciate somebody else without comparing yourself to them. You can walk into a room where everybody looks different from you and still know who you are.

You do not have to prove your worth before anybody else gets an opinion.

I was thinking about this question today:

Why did God create anything?

And I think one of the biggest things to understand is this: God did not create because He was lonely, bored, or missing something.

God was already complete.

He didn’t create because He needed us. He created because creation reveals something about who He is. His glory. His beauty. His wisdom. His love. His Kingdom.

In other words, creation is not really about God filling some emptiness. It is about God choosing to share what was already overflowing from who He is.

That changes how I look at the world a little. It means creation is not random. And it means our existence is not random either.

I want you to think about something with me this week.

Your feed is doing more than keeping you entertained.

Every time you scroll, you’re hearing voices telling you what matters, what success looks like, what your body should look like, what relationships should look like, what you should want, and even what you should be upset about.

And if we’re not careful, all of that starts to shape us.

So here’s the question I want you to sit with:
Who is discipling you the most?
Is it Jesus?
Or is it your feed?

I’m not saying social media is automatically bad. I’m saying we need to be honest about influence.

If your feed gets hours of your attention and Jesus gets the leftover minutes, eventually one of those voices is going to start shaping you more than the other.

That’s what we’re talking about this week in Youth Group Magazine.

I want to say something today that might sound obvious, but I think social media has blurred it more than we realize:

A follower is not the same thing as a friend.
Someone can watch your story every day and still have no idea what is really going on in your life.

They can like every post and still never check on you when you are struggling.

They can know where you went, what you wore, and who you were with without actually knowing you.

One of the lines from this week’s YGM article that really sticks with me is this:

“A person watching your story does not mean they know your story. A streak does not equal loyalty, a like does not equal love.”

That is worth sitting with.

I’m not saying online friendships are fake. I’m saying we should be careful about confusing access with relationship.

The people who really love you are usually the ones willing to show up when there is nothing to like, repost, or react to.

So think about your circle today:
Who actually knows your story?

Week 3: Why Did God Create? | Tuesday — Scripture + Thought

I love this verse because it reminds me that creation is constantly saying something about God.

“The heavens are telling of the glory of God; and the expanse of heaven is declaring the work of His hands.” — Psalm 19:1

Stars. Mountains. Oceans. Trees. Life itself.
None of those things are God, but they point beyond themselves.

Kind of like seeing a painting and realizing there had to be an artist. Creation has fingerprints all over it.

The world around us is not the Creator.
It is evidence of the Creator.

And maybe sometimes we just need to slow down long enough to notice.
