We have a few last-minute appointments available Wednesday morning for prenatal, initial postpartum, or follow-up lactation support. In-office appointments are available, with potential availability for a home visit depending on location and timing.

Beginning September 1, UnitedHealthcare will no longer reimburse lactation-support code S9443 when the baby is listed as the patient. It will only reimburse the code when the mother is listed. For many providers, this effectively cuts reimbursement for dyadic care in half.

But lactation care is dyadic. We evaluate the mother’s milk production and breast health while also evaluating the baby’s latch, oral function, milk transfer, feeding efficiency, and weight gain.

A baby does not stop being our patient just because insurance will not reimburse their care.

Two patients receive care. Both deserve recognition. And IBCLCs deserve sustainable reimbursement for caring for both.

Two years and countless little moments. 🤍

Two years ago, I saw my very first family as a solo private practice owner. I went from home to home with my car full of supplies and a big dream in my head.

Since then, HCL has grown into an office, a team, and a community that I am so incredibly grateful for.

Over these two years, we’ve celebrated so much. First latches and last latches. First bottles and last bottles. First drops of colostrum, first pumps, last pumps, and first bites of solid food. We’ve celebrated ounces and milestones, and we’ve walked alongside families through the really hard days, too.

I still wake up excited about what each day at HCL will bring. I love this work. I love these families. And I definately love all my babies! 🥰

Happy 2nd birthday, Hub City Lactation. 🎂 Cheers to many, many more! 🤍

World Breastfeeding Week 2026 is here! 🎉

This year’s theme is “Breastfeeding for a Sustainable Start in Life: Strengthen What Works.”

Breastfeeding journeys can include feeding at the breast, pumping, expressed milk, bottles, supplementation, combination feeding, or nursing for comfort and connection. It doesn’t have to be all-or-nothing to be incredibly special.

This week, Hub City Lactation celebrates every family and every unique feeding journey. 🎊

It’s training day! 🎉

For the next two days, I’ll be learning through Postpartum Support International’s Perinatal Mood Disorders: Components of Care training. I’m incredibly grateful to have received a scholarship for this opportunity and to become a Spanish-speaking resource for our community.

Supporting families means caring for the whole person. Support not only for feeding, but also their emotional and mental well-being. I’m excited to deepen my knowledge so I can better support the families in my care!

The Saturday aftermath! 😂🍼

Saturdays around here can be BUSY... and today was definitely one of those days!

Today was full of babies, bottles, pumps, weighted feeds, oral function evals, lots of detective work, and some really big wins. 🎉

Honestly... the best kind of busy. 🫶

One of the many things I love about being an IBCLC is meeting new families... and getting to come back for the repeat ones.

The sweet little one on the left is now a proud big brother, and I recently had the honor of helping his mama again with her newest little one. She had the best idea to recreate this picture 20 months later. Babies are equally cute, I'm a few more grey hairs in! 😆🥰

Watching families grow and being trusted again for baby #2, #3, or beyond is such a privilege. So far, the record belongs to one amazing family that has invited me back for all four of their babies.

To every family who has trusted me with more than one little one... thank you. Each and every one of my families and babies lives rent free in my heart. 🩷
