Deva's Rose Jewelry & Metalworks

Deva's Rose Jewelry & Metalworks Hi, my name is Annie and I'm the creator and designer of Deva's Rose Jewelry and Metalworks. I craft Hello! Thanks for coming to visit! You know the one.

My name is Annie and I am the designer and creator of Deva’s Rose. But it wasn’t always like this. I began my journey with metals at Evergreen State College working large scale with copper, brass, and steel, learning soldering, oxy-acetylene and MIG welding, forging, and a variety of cold forming techniques. However, I decided that I wanted to work small scale and, after working for a wire work je

weler for a time, that I didn’t like wire or beads. This lead me to North Seattle Community College where my passion for metals and stones was cemented in place and I began to develop my own style along with fine tuning my skills. I now take classes at Multnomah Arts Center and am a member of the Portland Creative Metal Arts Guild. Here at Deva’s Rose I hand craft all of the pieces myself. Chains and some findings I get preformed to save time, thus, saving you money, but when you buy one of these pieces you can be confident that from the initial spark of an idea, to design, to fabrication your piece is one of a kind, specially made for you. Check out my Facebook to see the step by step details involved in my work! I believe that everything is alive. Maybe not conscious but all things, animate and inanimate, give off vibrations so subtle we can only just sense them. People who give off complementary vibrations enjoy each others company, even if they are polar opposites. I think this is why we are attracted to certain shapes and colors more than others, and, when applied to my field of work, stones and metals. Have you ever seen the piece of jewelry that just calls to you? The one sitting on a piece of velvet that you just have to touch, to wear. You can’t help but ask to handle it, whether it’s the price of a coffee or more than you have in your bank account. And the jeweler will hand it over because they know the feeling, it’s why we do what we do. We know the desire to be close to something that resonates with our being. When two notes are played simultaneously the frequencies will actually resonate together and create a third note. We resonate with the things and people around us, our vibrations mixing to create something more than the sum of it’s parts. The symphony of the universe. And this is what I believe my calling is. To give you something beautiful that makes you happy every time you look at it and confident every time you wear it. To craft something that you can resonate with.

I'll be keeping this page (with a lot less activity) for the occasional post of what I've got but it's finally the end. It's been a wild ride, y'all, and a pleasure to create for each and every one of you!

I should be packing and loading my car for the this weekend. Instead, I'm sitting with Ahsoka watching the rain on my plants and it seems like a good time to tell y'all that this will be one of my last markets. Due to the times, including the swiftly increasing cost of living, I will be closing my business and going back to a "real job" (and if it doesn't infuriate you that I can't be a working artist keep your "congrats" and s**t to yourself, I'm grieving and enraged).

As I've described to my close people, the last few years have been like watching my first love die of cancer. Like finding a new experimental drug that works for a while and then they begin to wither, again, and another treatment that helps for a while but then fails, and now they're on life support and I have to make the decision to turn it off because they're never getting better. So I'm pulling the plug but I'm not going out quietly and will continue to operate within my values and ethics as I go through this transition.

My values are life and love and freedom of authenticity. My values are art and culture over money and capitalism. My values are healthy boundaries and standing up for what's right. Artists being expected to vomit out cheap, base products for consumers to gobble up for pennies in exchange is abhorrent to me and I will no longer participate. My s**t is getting exclusive. I will not be running any sales or lowering my prices, many will go up. I will continue to be at the Astoria Sunday Market every other week until I get a day job. After that my art will be for purchase and trades only with those who support the dream of a free world that protects the environment, our children, and a better way of living. If you don't want to overthrow this capitalist government that was built to hold down all but the white cis man, you don't get to wear my art 😈

Peace and love for all.

Shows are officially done for the year but that doesn't mean shopping needs to be! I'll continue to post my current stock and you can DM me to purchase anything that you can't get off your mind either for local pickup (Salem, Oregon and surrounding areas) or free shipping in the US (International shipping available for $40).

Availability for custom pieces will open up in mid January but a heads up that the early spots are already taken by some very cool, VERY PATIENT folks who've been waiting on me for a long while 😖 (big hugs and appreciation to and for putting up with me!)

Thanks to everyone who's helped me keep this small business going for 11 years!!!
