I attended my very first auction today and had a great time! The auctioneer was very nice and explained everything.

1. You register and get assigned a number and are given a card with the number to wave when you want to bid. None of that touch your nose or pull you ear stuff 🤣 like in the movies.

 2. They provide a complete list of all the lots in the auction. Today’s auction featured 605 lots!!!!

3. Before the auction they hold a preview. you get to look over the items and go through the boxes so you know what you’re bidding on. I did this and noted the lots I wanted to bid on.

This auction was way up in Amherst, New Hampshire an hour away. Doesn’t it turn out my seat mate is also from Waltham! Mr. Corbett taught at the HS for 20 years - such a small world!

When I made and won my first bid the auctioneer called me by name and told everyone this was my first time and they all applauded. Such a nice crowd!

Well after all that - turns out for 6 of the 7 lots I bid on I had no competing bidders so I made out big time!

Talk about a winning day - not only did I get a 5 box’s of top quality of vintage Christmas items and 2 boxes of modern Christmas items but I only spent half my budget 💰

It did take the the whole day - I got there at 10:30am and left at 3:30pm!
