For years Desiree by Design has been fascinated by beautiful and unique pieces. Particularly jewelry of old. Since a child she explored her vintage inspirations, gleaming and shopping from her aunt’s collection, who was a seamstress. Growing up Desiree acquired a sense of coordinating matching accessories to her outfits through her stylish friend’s mother, who always stressed, “ you must have the matching belt, to go with the shoes, and/or pocketbook.” This carried on with her throughout her adulthood. She inwardly felt she was born in the 60’s.
She graduated from York College (CUNY) with a B.A. in Business Administration. However, felt the need to pursue her fashion niche at The Fashion Institute of Technology, NY. Here is where she acquired skills in sewing, draping, design, style, and technical knowledge for the overall image. She is a certified image consultant, who seeks to minimize a person’s physical weaknesses and build their positive attributes.
Upon graduation she had the chance to visit Paris, France, with a group of successful women business owners, who mentored her and helped hone her skills to the next level. Princess Jenkins, lifestyle adviser and owner of luxury boutique The Brownstone, and Milliner Extraordinaire Harriet Rosebud, NY. With training, mentorship, and a drive for entrepreneur and thinking out of the box, Desiree continues to reach for the sky. Designing vintage with a modern day twist, millinery and fashionable accessories including flower lapels, clip-on earrings and more unique findings.
In the future she will incorporate a select clothing line to accentuate the hair accessories, to complete the entire look.
