Youāre perfect, kiddo. Shine bright. āØ
During Pride Month, I always think about my q***r nieces and nephews. Iāve been to a lot of Pride parades and events, and last year I even wore my āfree auntie-hugsā T-shirts and hugged a lot of kids who needed one.
And each time I held one of them, it both filled my heart and broke it at the same time.
Iām always in awe of all the joy and celebration and fun that I see during Pride Month. I love watching people live in their fully expressed versions. Out, proud, and fearless.
And at the same time, Iām filled with anger while I watch other people condemn what they think is a ālifestyleā and try to box up that joy and hide it away.
For all of my q***r kiddos⦠if thatās what youāre feeling, Iām going to say this to you and maybe it will help:
I think all those people who have such a hard time accepting q***r kids are angry because they lack the courage and the conviction to live an unapologetically bold and joyful life. That there are things they wish they could be, and theyāre too afraid to be them. And watching you live your life is the type of freedom that they wish they could have.
I hope from the bottom of my heart that you all know that, for as many loud voices out there that may hurt you, there are so many more of those like meāwho celebrate you, love you, accept you, and want to live our lives just like you.
You are freedom personified.
You are love in motion.
You are joy in action.
Donāt stop dancing just because Pride Month is over, kiddo.
Life is a celebrationā always, ALWAYS celebrate yours.
I love you with my whole heart. You always have an auntie who will welcome you with open arms right here, kiddo.
Go smack āem upside the head with all of your glitter covered fabulousness.
And drink your water. Itās important to stay hydrated while youāre out there being fabulous. š
