In business, when people slander you or try to drag your name through the mud, your first instinct might be to jump into the ring and fight back. But here’s a massive lesson in business maturity: You can't just jump into a street fight with another business, even when they are actively attacking yours. I always try my absolute best not to let people burn bridges. I try to protect people from their own bad decisions. But sometimes, people mistake kindness for weakness.

Take a look at this screenshot right here. A "friend" hired me to do SEO and digital growth for their business (Stillbi███'shvac). I looked at their setup and told him straight up: "Man, you have to do ABC first before we can jump to XYZ." He looked me in the eye and said, "Just do this part first, and we will handle all the rest of that right after." Because he was a friend, I agreed. I did a mountain of high-level work completely at cost. I charged him literally ONE-THIRD of what he had paid previous companies, and I delivered three times the actual results.

But when it finally came time to execute the rest of the strategy and settle up? The excuses started rolling in. And when the excuses ran out, instead of just being honest, they resorted to slander.
