Guess who’s baaack!! I took a break from at-home workouts for a while, but now that I’m on Spring Break, I’m making a commitment to myself to get back on track by moving my body every day. Today was day 1 of and my legs were on 🔥 - I will be feeling it tomorrow, for sure!

Want to know the secret to 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙡 𝙝𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙞𝙣𝙚𝙨𝙨?

Think like a dog. Seriously, just look at those happy eyes!! Here are the observations I made tonight on our run-walk:

1. Dogs don’t think about where they’ve been. They think about where they are going. Full steam ahead. Lesson: no matter what has happened in your past, keep moving forward. Don’t look back - you’re not going that way.
2. Dogs are always happy to see people, even complete strangers on the street. Lesson: we should all make more of an effort to smile and say hello to the people we pass as we go about our days. You never know how much a simple hello or smile can positively impact another person, and it might just brighten your day, too.
3. Dogs always want to go for a walk. Chloe gets so excited to go that she is a wild woman on the leash for the first five minutes because she is just so excited. Lesson: exercise not because you have to, but because you get to. Get outside. Breathe the fresh air. Move your body, and it will change your mood.

When you can’t control what’s happening, challenge yourself to control how you respond to what is happening around you. That is where your power is.

These words are something I have worked extremely hard to follow over the years, especially the last few. We don’t always have the ability to change the people around us, or the way that they behave, but we always have a choice on how we respond, or if we respond at all.

This week has been hard. Work is stressful. Single parenting is hard. Kids think they know everything. The full moon brings out the crazy in everyone. I didn’t work out once. And to deal with it all, my coping strategies weren’t the healthiest (can you say all the food and too much screen time comparing myself to strangers on the internet?). So this morning, I decided I was done feeling like crap, put on my favorite leggings, some 90s hip hop, and pushed play on my workout.

I can’t control any of the stuff I listed above, so I decided to change how I was responding, and that has already made a huge difference in my mood for today.

Don’t let the weekend be your “weak end.” Saturday morning sweat sesh in the books in my favorite Cheshire Cat leggings....
