A few weeks ago I told you about an old wood door that I was going to transform into a decor project for an auction. I finally was able to paint the “box” part in front (which was added to the door using scrap wood) and I did my best to match the very old, weathered look of the door. I added hinges & a handle (along with a hook to hold it open) so a person could use it for storage. I also put a vintage looking hook on the door to hang a wreath.

And now I need to make 3 seasons of wreaths (Halloween, fall & winter) to hang on the door & a couple of coordinating pieces for each season to sit on the “bench” part. When I finish that (hopefully this weekend), I will post photos of the door decorated for each season. This will be a whole package deal that you can bid on at the Rita Tranberg Memorial on Sat Sept 12th in Blair, WI.

I made these out 2x4’s cut down to 6”, 7” & 8”. I added roof slats made from shims. I stained each one in a dark brown color & then lightly dry-brushed a light color of paint on the front only. I chose a different word for each size house & then embellished them with whatever extras I found in my craft stash. I do have the 3 sizes in each of the 3 colors shown. They are priced at $8.50, $9.50 & $10.50. I will soon be making more of these houses & decorating them for fall & winter too.

I’m sorry that it’s been awhile since I posted any finished craft projects. Today I am going to show you the beginning stages of an auction item that I will be working on for the Rita Tranberg Memorial. The black, chippy wood door was given to me from Nancy Ekern with the stipulation that I create something for the memorial.

Part 1 was to make a box with a lid & attach it to the door. Thanks to Randy Schaitel for his carpenter expertise. And we got the wood from our neighbor Jerry’s workshop. Part 2 will be for me to paint the box so it blends in with the door.

Then the fun begins when it’s time to do Part 3: decorating the door. I will share more with you as I finish the different parts.

I am finally figuring out how to use my cricut machine that I bought 8 years ago! I had some scrap panel wood that I cut into 6x6 squares & stained a dark brown color. Then I browsed around in the cricut design space for cute sayings & made some vinyl stencils that would fit on the boards, with a little size adjustments. I think the white paint looked the best on the dark panels. I will probably drill a hole in each corner & add a wire or jute string hanger. Now that I am getting the hang of this, my next step will be to try to design my own images to work with.

It’s been awhile since I’ve shared anything I’ve made. Now that I have several graduation parties to go to, I have been busy making cards. The 1st photo is a money holder card (front & inside) & I have 6 fine young men that will receive one of these. I combined bits & parts from a couple different card ideas I saw on Pinterest to create this one.
The 2nd photo will be the card I give to the 3 beautiful girls that are graduating. I will be making one of these using different school colors, though. I saw a card like this online & I just made it with the colors I needed. Next I will be making a couple of cards for some upcoming weddings. I will share those soon.

I love it when a craft project turns out better (& different) than I expected it to. I worked on these birdhouses off & on during the past week & each day the end result changed just a bit.

I started out with a 5” unfinished birdhouse that I painted & then I added twigs & moss to the roof. The birdhouse sits on a leftover large spool, which originally had twine wrapped around it. I wrapped the middle of it with brown twine & added more moss, stones & twigs. And to finish it off, I have a couple of dried hydrangea blooms on the roof. It stands about 9” tall with a very natural, woodsy look to it. I think I shall price these at $16.25 each. I only have 3 of them, so let me know if you would like one.
