I’ve been waiting for this one for a while. 💗

Zinnia has been on a bit of a wrap strike lately, so I had to wait until she was tired enough to give her custom handwoven wrap a try. Today was finally the day—and let me tell you, it was worth the wait.

There’s something incredibly special about wrapping your baby (okay, toddler 😅) in a wrap that was made just for them. Every detail was chosen with her in mind, and carrying her in it feels like holding onto a little piece of this season of life.

One day, many years from now, I hope to hand this wrap to her so she can use it to carry her own babies. Until then, I’ll be soaking up every snuggle I can get. ✨

Wrap my wiggly baby with me! 🏴‍☠️

Pirate’s Carry is one of my favorite quick and easy back carries, and we use it almost daily. Ever since I learned it, it’s become my go-to for shorter wraps (base -2 to base -3).

Once you get the hang of it, it’s a fast, comfortable, and supportive carry that’s perfect for everyday adventures. Whether you’re running errands, chasing older kids, or just need your hands free, Pirate’s Carry gets the job done without a lot of fuss.

And if you have a baby or toddler who would rather be anywhere else than sitting still while you wrap? 😅 This one is especially worth learning. In my experience, the less time it takes to get them up, the happier everyone is!

✨ Ring sling demo ✨

One of the most common questions I get is about how to use a ring sling. So I made a quick little video showing the basics of a ring sling. I promise, once it clicks ring slings are so fast and easy! Hope this helps and if you have any questions, feel free to drop them down below. 💗

Practice wrapping with me 💛

One of my favorite quiet little rituals is grabbing a demo doll before the kids wake up and spending a few minutes practicing a carry.

This morning it was a quick double hammock tied in front—and it was far from perfect. 😅

Baby ended up a bit too high on my back, which caused the passes to sit lower on the legs than I would have liked. But that’s exactly why we practice.

I think it’s easy to assume educators, instructors, and experienced wrappers have everything figured out, but the truth is we’re all still learning, tweaking, and refining our skills. Every carry teaches you something.

So here’s your reminder that it doesn’t have to be perfect to be worth doing. Practice is where the magic happens. ✨

Do you have a carry you’re currently working on?

One of my favorite parts of babywearing is that it lets me keep my baby close while still moving through our day. 💛

This morning it was breakfast.

A simple back carry gives my little one a great view of what’s going on, keeps him close to me, and leaves my hands free to make breakfast for everyone.

There doesn’t always need to be a big reason to wear your baby. Sometimes it’s just about connection, comfort, and sharing the everyday moments together. ✨

Did you know that toddlers benefits from babywearing as well?

It’s actually one of my favorite tools as a toddler parent, especially when big emotions and meltdowns are involved.

Here are some of the biggest benefits:

💛 Emotional regulation & comfort — toddlers are still learning how to manage big feelings. Being close to you can help calm their nervous system when they’re overstimulated, sick, teething, tired, or overwhelmed. The pressure, movement, and closeness can feel very grounding.

💛 Connection during the independence phase — toddlers want independence and reassurance at the same time. Wearing them can help fill their “connection cup” while still letting you move through your day.

💛 Hands-free parenting — especially helpful with multiple kids. You can comfort a clingy toddler while still cooking, helping an older sibling, shopping, or handling a baby.

💛Sensory support — the motion and pressure input from carriers can help some toddlers regulate sensory overload and transitions. The rhythmic movement can be calming and organizing for the nervous system.

💛 Language & social development — toddlers worn at your height hear conversations, watch facial expressions, and observe the world from a socially engaged perspective.

💛 Maintaining attachment while encouraging exploration — paradoxically, kids who feel securely connected often become more confident explorers because they know they have a safe base to return to.

So no, babywearing benefits don’t end when your baby turns 1. 🥰

And honestly, from a practical perspective: toddlerwearing can massively reduce the “carry me!!” exhaustion because a properly supportive carrier distributes weight much better than hip carrying.

For toddlers specifically, supportive options like woven wraps, toddler SSCs, onbuhimos, meh dais, and reinforced ring sling carries tend to be the most comfortable long-term.

Anne’s Front Wrap Carry is one of my favorite woven wrap carries for the newborn stage 🤍

I love it because it offers extra neck support for tiny babies while also giving you amazing lower back support — which can make such a difference during those long newborn days.

It creates such a cozy, secure fit and distributes weight beautifully, making it a really comfortable option for extended babywearing.

And while it’s absolutely not just for newborns (you can continue using it with older babies and toddlers too!), this is one I especially love during those early squishy newborn weeks.

Have you tried Anne’s Front Wrap Carry yet?

Ok but seriously… babywearing can feel REALLY overwhelming when you first start, especially when everyone online seems to have a different opinion 😅🤎

Here are some of my biggest “horror stories” that I see/hear.

1. “Isn’t she too big to be carried?” / “You’re spoiling them”
Responsive parenting is not spoiling. Babies and toddlers are meant to seek connection, comfort, and regulation from their caregivers — and being carried doesn’t suddenly become “bad” once they hit a certain age 🫶

2. World-facing newborns
Forward facing has a time and place, but newborns generally need more support than that position provides. Little babies do best in positions where their airway and spine are properly supported and they can easily rest against their caregiver.

3. Legs dangling/no deep seat
One of the most common fit issues! We want baby sitting in the carrier rather than hanging from it, with support from knee-to-knee to help distribute weight comfortably and support baby’s positioning.

4. Baby completely covered by fabric
Baby’s face and airway should always be visible and easy to monitor. If you have to dig through layers of fabric to check on baby, that’s usually a sign something needs adjusting.

5. Parents not having enough support and giving up
Honestly, this one is the real horror story. So many parents think babywearing “just isn’t for them” when really they may just need a better fit, different carrier, or someone to troubleshoot with them 🤎 It’s my hope that every parent has a resource that they can reach out to and ask questions so that they DO feel confident in carrying their baby and if I can do my part and help just a few parents get there, I would be honored.

Babywearing shouldn’t feel scary or exclusive. It’s okay to ask questions, need help, or take time learning a new carry. And there’s a whole community of babywearing educators out here wanting to help you get there 💗

A lot of people think ring slings are only for newborn snuggles or quick hip carries… but you can back carry in them too 👀

This is such a fun option for older babies/toddlers who want to see the world while still staying close 💛

A few important things:
✨ back carries in a ring sling are best for babies with strong trunk control
✨ practice over a soft surface first
✨ make sure baby has a deep seat and clear airway
✨ always keep the rings positioned high and tight

It’s definitely more of an advanced carry, but once you get the hang of it, it can be SO handy 🙌
