“Where It All Started”

Sometimes the things we do in high school don’t seem important at the time… and then years later you realize they were the spark that lit everything you’re doing now.

For me, that spark was computer graphics class.
Not because I thought it would shape my future — honestly, I only signed up because all my friends were taking it and it meant sitting at a computer for an hour. This was before Facebook, before MySpace… back when my home computer was basically just for AOL, Roller Coaster Tycoon, and The Sims.

But that class ended up being so much more.

My now‑husband was in there (on the rare days he actually showed up), and I always got excited when he walked through the door. I sat next to one of my friends, and somewhere between laughing, talking, and pretending to pay attention… I actually fell in love with the work.

Our big project was to design a CD album cover for a band we made up.
And that’s when The Miserables were born — hot pink lightning bolts, screaming girl power, full punk‑rock chaos. I can still picture it. One day I’ll dig it up and post it because I know it’s hiding somewhere.

But that silly little assignment?
That was the beginning of my digital design journey.
The first time I realized how much I loved creating visuals, playing with color, building something from nothing.

And honestly… it’s wild to look back now and see how that class turned into logos, branding, digital products, and Jens2Daisies Designs.

Funny how life works.

Show me your photo hacks!

My best photo spot is in the weirdest place but the mirrors around me bounce the light perfectly. After trying every hanger trick imaginable, this little MacGyver setup finally held up: eye hook screw and a zip tie. It keeps my mannequin even with the wall and hasn’t budged yet. Sometimes the simplest fix is the winner.

Quick Tip: If your mannequin keeps slipping or falling, try this combo. It’s cheap, sturdy, and wall-friendly.

🌸 Women’s Month Reminder: We Deserve Safety, Strength, and Skills

Every woman deserves to feel safe — in her home, in her relationships, in her community, and in her own body.
And too many of us know firsthand why self‑defense isn’t a luxury… it’s a necessity.

This Women’s Month, I’m calling for free, accessible self‑defense classes for women and girls in our community.
Not because we want to fight.
But because we deserve to walk through the world with confidence, awareness, and the ability to protect ourselves if we ever need to.

💪 Why it matters:

• Women are often the first to protect others but the last to receive protection
• Many can’t afford paid classes, childcare, or transportation
• Knowledge is power — and safety shouldn’t come with a price tag
• Teaching girls early builds confidence that lasts a lifetime

🌼 What I want to see:

• Community centers offering monthly free classes
• Schools hosting age‑appropriate safety workshops
• Local gyms partnering to provide no‑cost sessions
• Women supporting women through empowerment, not fear

This isn’t about paranoia.
It’s about preparation, confidence, and reclaiming our right to feel safe.

Tell me why I walked into the store today, fell in LOVE with this pantry… and then remembered I drove my tiny four‑door car instead of my husband’s truck.
I stood there genuinely debating if I could strap it to the roof with my shoelaces like some kind of determined pioneer woman 😂

My daughter looked at me like, “Mom. No. Absolutely not.” 🙏
So I walked away… but just know my heart is still sitting right there next to that pantry.

I’ll just say mine involved a rope, furniture dolly, skate board, four-door car and a recliner couch 😂 I wasn’t driving either.. I was partially riding on the skateboard 👀
