the end of August has snuck up on me like it always does... and as much as i look forward to cooler air and jackets, i have the urge to soak up the last of summer. evening walks to get ice cream and arcades, swimming and sunsets.

surprise! your favorite silk scarf got a fall glow up 🤠
right in time for my most loved season, i recolored our best selling "word jumble" scarf with some cozy, unexpected hues. turquoise, gold and this gorgeous brick dust base color. i can tell i'm gonna be wearing this one on repeat for sure.

how do you take a great classic outfit, like jeans and a white button down shirt and turn up the sass?!
1) add a silk twilly bowtie

as i took my first walk with Otis as an empty nester, i thought about how life is relentlessly moving forward and can shake us up when big change comes
AND even when we DON'T plan or choose big change! (ugh, the audacity...)
✨
i offer this perspective: what if we allow ourselves to be shaken. we let life shake us up and spit us out, changed, having to find our way again from a new place. what if we stayed curious about the new patterns that may emerge instead of grasping so desperately to how things were...
there will be sadness and grief for what was, of course, i will take time to feel those emotions when they come, but then i am choosing stepping into this new chapter with curiosity and gratitude at the forefront,
i wonder what might happen next :)

(maybe the lightest softest of our bandanas yet!!)

this is the story of "AGAINST THE ODDS"

There will always be hurdles, potholes and fences with tall, locked gates on the road to your dreams. But there are different ways of approaching those obstacles that get in your way that can radically change your course.
✨
One is defeat… this isn’t optimal, folks, but it’s a choice so i had to leave it in.
✨
One is to keep choosing a smoother, less potholed road by making choices that keep you safe and acceptable. This option gets you a less bumpy ride for sure, but also one that isn’t gonna light you up and make your life uniquely yours.
✨
Another option is adopting the mindset of seeing those obstacles as a challenge. Like the kid on the playground that says, “i bet you can’t run up the slide without falling” and you reply, “oh yeah? watch this!”
✨
Say THAT to your hurdles. Say THAT to your doubts and fears.
Build the life you dream of IN SPITE of the odds, hurdles and naysayers.
I yaysay that you can do anything you decide to do!
Take the challenge.

that "powerful" is laid out plainly as "to use my strength in the service of my vision" is just such kickass take!
we are at our best when our actions are aligned with what our vision of our personal life, our family's life, the community we want to live in, etc.
when we SEE how we want things to be for ourselves and then take action to bring that vision to life ... THAT is our power, that is the thing that makes us less afraid, because we know we are doing the work that is important and courage becomes a given as we work towards our vision...
i just love it.
