Greetings and welcome to another edition of our "ValourFest Artist Watch" program. the purpose of this platform is to introduce you to some of the acts whom you will be jamming to during the festival and hopefully get you singing along. On this post of we have our brother S.O.

Nigerian born and London raised, “S.O.” is no stranger to rap. A love for hip-hop was birthed in him from a young age, saying his first rhyme at 6 years old at his grandmother’s birthday party. But even with this love, he did not dream of doing music. Upon coming to Christ in 2004, at age 15 his focus changed from wanting fortune and fame, to serving and pleasing God. After years of the Lord working on his soul, and S.O. working on his craft, a gospel-centered artist was formed. In 2010, S.O. accomplished both a degree in Theology from Durham University, and mixtape called “The 5 Solas Mixtape“. It was an encouraging contribution that caught the ear of Lamp Mode Recordings thus causing them to sign him as their first international artist.
For the past few years S.O. has seen his platform grow beyond his expectations. With the free album “So It Begins” (you can find the full album HERE), and a critically acclaimed debut retail album “So It Continues“, (which reached the Top 10 Hip-Hop iTunes charts in 3 different countries), S.O has been able to perform and tour all over the world. He has toured in places like Canada, America, Africa and Europe bringing a message of hope to thousands of people. S.O. has worked and shared the stage with Grammy award winner Lecrae, singer song writer Mali Music, lyrical theologian Shai Linne, to name a few. In February 2014, S.O sold out his first headline show in London UK. ‘S.O. Live in London’ was a huge success and a testimony of what God is doing in and through him.

Currently, S.O. is working on his third album ‘So It Ends’ which is scheduled for a 2015 release.

ValourFest Artist Watch : on this platform we introduce you to some of the artists you will be seeing at ValourFest this year. First up we have Mawat
Mawat is a Durban raised, Johannesburg based rap artist. From Durban Christian Centre and now he is under the ministry of Dr Max Holland at Kingdom Life Embassy. Also an entrepreneur, he is the co-founder and C.E.O of Set Free Media.

A producer as well, Mawat produced the famous FIFTY-50 FAMILY album which won the Crown Gospel Awards in 2011; was nominated for the SAMAs in 2012; and also received 2 nominations at the Africa Music Awards held in the UK. With the group he has shared stages with celebrated acts Ernie Smith, Joyous Celebration and Grammy award winning Lecrae.

Mawat’s highly energized (Turn Up!!!) performances have made him a leader in his genre of Christian Hip-Hop in Southern Africa. With his single I PRAISE GOD being nominated for the 2013 Crown Gospel Awards, Mawat has recently been included on the LIVE LIFE LOAD African Tour with two supporting acts from USA (S.O. and Sho Baraka) . He was also the face for TEVO speakers in 2012, and partnered with the global cause against women violence: 1 BILLION RISING FOR JUSTICE.
