During the trip up north, I noticed dogs everywhere, both pets and strays wandering through villages and along the roads. At one point, I asked our driver if there were monkeys and parrots around here too.

Our driver, who grew up in a mountain village nearby, told us that back in the day people here were so poor they survived on whatever they could find. He said people hunted all kinds of animals from the forests, including dogs and even monkeys, just to get by. Over time, wildlife became much harder to spot in some areas.

Can’t help but wonder how much of that is really true, but hearing it while driving through landscapes this beautiful definitely makes you think. Either way, I’m just enjoying the view ⛰️🌅
