4 things you must know about Linen Sarees!🥻

Today, I'll tell you about the history and where linen sarees originated from.

The process of extracting linen fabric from wild flax plants started around 36,000 years ago. Parts of these fabrics as well as the core elements need to make the fabric like yarns, seeds, filaments, and other kinds of textures have been found in the Swiss lake settlements around 8000 BC.

The linen fabric was even found in Egypt as it was mainly used to preserve various things.

The fabric was generally preserved for higher classes even during ancient times. However, several weaving processes came into the scenario as technologies advanced. Nowadays, there are a myriad of linen sarees available in various colors and alluring designs!

During the Mughal period around the 14th century, the artisans from Banaras started making their presence by developing unique and complicated silk brocades using gold and silver zari threads.

Benarasi weaving started getting more recognition and developed expertise during the 18th and 19th centuries.

Benarasi sarees are among the finest sarees in India, known for their gold and silver zari, fine silk, and opulent hand weaving.

Their special characteristics are Mughal-inspired designs such as intricate intertwining floral and foliate motifs.

Depending on the designs and patterns' complexities, it may take 10 days to a month and sometimes up to six months to make a Benarasi.

Benarasi sarees are mainly worn by Indian women on special occasions like attending a wedding or at their own weddings. Along with it, they are complemented by the best jewelry set.
