Sometimes you need the right input from outside before you can improve things (Thanks 😊!).

This is also the case for our wool covers in the newborn size. The original Jovoh’s size 1 starts at 4 kg. And indeed, they can still be too big, especially on the legs of petite children. This may lead to leakage, frustration and ultimately parents resorting to disposable nappies. And that is simply a shame! So I have decided that the size 1 covers will habe extra snaps on the outside.

The “new” newborn size
♡ Enjoy wool nappies right after birth
♡ Reduction along the legs for a better fit
♡ Adjustable Snaps on the tummy (for tiny little baby’s)
♡ Slightly larger than other newborn brands
♡ Can be worn up to approx. 7 kg

What do you think, should that be standard or optionally?

Is it actually easy to wash wool? The most important thing to consider is that wool is sensitive to temperature fluctuations. If you wash wool in the washing machine on a normal program, they are likely to shrink. This is not necessarily because wool cannot withstand high temperatures. You can even boil wool. However, what wool cannot handle well are large temperature fluctuations or intensive movement combined with high temperatures. The solution therefore is simple:

Wash wool with lukewarm water (30 °C at most), by hand or on the wool program in the washing machine. Make sure you use special detergent suitable for wool. You can also treat the merino wool of the woollen nappies with a brush if they have been soiled with coarse dirt or faeces. Doesn’t sound too complicated, right?

On our website you’ll find a lot of information about how to wash, dry and use merino wool nappies đŸ€Ž

Why should you choose cloth nappies at all? And then going for wool too! I’m probably not the right person to answer these questions. Quite simply because I would get carried away and my view has become somewhat blurred. So here’s the question for you: Why wool? What convinced you to try it? 🐑 As usual, answer in the language that feels most comfortabel to you đŸ€Ž

Sometimes life plays out differently than planned. I’m on my way to Germany because of a family emergency.

I will try to answer your messages as quickly as possible, but will certainly respond more slowly than you are used to.

For all current orders, I’ll probably have to max out the processing time of two weeks. I managed to get a lot done at the weekend. And thanks to the fact that the post office is also open on Sunday, I managed to get a few parcels away.

Thank you for your understanding đŸ€Ž

My youngest asked if she may sell the nappies. After all, she would be the expert. I asked het “What do they cost?”, and she replied “80€”. Oh, that’s a lot I said. She hesitated, and said “Sometimes only I€, or people may choose the price themselves”.

That’s indeed a lovely idea, but I’m not sure if I should let her handle the sales and marketing đŸ„°.

How to wash wool the best way? This can either be done by hand or in the washing machine.

Washing wool by hand
The most thorough way to wash wool is by hand. It will last the longest if you don’t treat the wool to roughly. Washing wool by hand is as follows: fill a tub, bucket, or the sink with lukewarm water (30 °C at most). Add a little wool detergent or olive soap and put your wool garment in the soapy water. Gently knead the garment for a few minutes to get it thoroughly clean. Let it soak for another 10 minutes and then rinse the garment well with lukewarm water.

Washing wool in the washing machine
If your washing machine has a wool program, you can also wash your wool items (e.g., clothes, blankets) with this. Wash at 30 °C and 600 rpm maximum. Washing wool in the washing machine is usually slightly less accurate than by hand, but of course easy.

Wool is an ancient, natural fibre that we are seeing more and more in our daily lives 🐑. From clothes to blankets and socks to cloth nappies. Wool has numerous advantages: it regulates temperature and stays warm even when wet. Moreover, wool is dirt-repellent, which means you need to wash it much less often than other fabrics. Washing wool is not difficult, but you need to know how to do it so that you can enjoy it for a long time.

The most important thing to consider is that wool is sensitive to temperature fluctuations. If you wash wool in the washing machine on a normal program, they are likely to shrink. This is not necessarily because wool cannot withstand high temperatures. You can even boil wool. But changing temperatures are a problem if the water isn’t heated up slowly. Very slowly.

The solution therefore is simple: Wash wool with lukewarm water (30 °C at most), by hand or on the wool program in the washing machine. Make sure you use special detergent suitable for wool. Or olive soap. That works absolutely great!

It’s time to say goodbye to non-stretch cotton fabrics. Unfortunately, this also means that some really beautiful nappy designs are disappearing, but the advantage of stretchy covers is undeniable. They usually fit better and can be worn longer.

To be honest, I’m also thinking about taking the stretchy cotton nappies from the shop. You have clearly fallen in love with the pure wool nappies (which I truly understand 😅). But this is for later. I still like the opportunity to have an option with colourful covers, which are also a bit cheaper than the pure wool nappies. What is your opinion on this? Would you like to have both options (cotton-wool and 100%wool)?

Baby blanket or changing mat. The choice is yours. Either way, you can be sure that your baby will not come into contact with harmful chemicals. The blankets are made from 100% organic cotton and are sized so that you can easily take them with you when travelling ♄

What’s your favourite colour? For me it depends on the season 😅 Usually I like the warm yellow but today it’s somehow the purple one.

The shop remains open but processing of your order will be delayed accordingly. And you can look forward to a little gift to make up for being absent for so long!

Stay safe, enjoy life, breath and dance in the rain ♄

Finally, after many months of preparation I can proudly present the new wool cover ‘zero waste’ đŸ„ł

The ‘zero waste’ wool cover is made from small pieces of fabric that are left over from cutting and sewing other products. The use of these fabrics therefore offers the opportunity to work sustainably, which is right at the heart of Jovoh.

The wool cover is a special combination of high quality organic merino wool and (organic) cotton. Just like the 100% wool cover, it has a double layer of wool in the central “wet” area and around the leg cuffs where leakage is more likely to occur. Thanks to the two layers of wool, the nappies can withstand longer changing intervals and are therefore suitable for use at night or when travelling. They are also recommended when the child is carried in a sling. The pressure applied on the nappy can push the moisture through the wool cover. An additional layer of wool can work wonders here. The wool is combined with beautiful cotton fabric at the upper part.

What is your favourite combination? ♄

The May holidays are coming up soon and, like every year, I'm going to take some time for the family. Our little one started school this month and the older one is also looking forward to a few days of peace and quiet. It will be good for us and I'm really looking forward to it! ♄

That's why the processing of your orders will be delayed by approximately a week. As a small consolation, you can order for €3.90 shipping costs. Applies to countries within the EU and from now up to and including 06/05. You live outside of the EU? Then you can look forward to a little gift đŸ„ł

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ “The newborn package was the perfect start for us. The natural fibres were exactly what we were locking for, and also greasing the covers turned out to be really easy! All items are beautifully made. I can only recommend Jovoh and I’m looking forward to ordering the next size of woollen nappies soon. Thank you so much for your work!”
